Mata kuliah ini mengajarkan konsep-konsep dasar ekonomi teknik. Ilmu ini memadukan ilmu ekonomi dan ilmu teknik. Konsep-konsep ekonomi dan teknik-teknik analisis berdasarkan ukuran manfaat dari biaya suatu rencana proyek atau investasi. Capaian pembelajaran yang dituju adalah mahasiswa mampu menganalisis kelayakan suatu usulan proyek atau investasi dari sudut pandang ekonomi. Proyek atau investasi yang dimaksud bisa berupa produk, sebuat alat, sebuah gedung komersial, jalan, industry, bahkan sebuah kawasan industri.
This course is designed to teach the fundamental concepts of engineering economy. It covers both economic and technical sciences. The concepts of economy and techniques of analysis are based on the values of benefits and costs of proposed projects or
investments. Learning outcomes would be the capability of students to analysis the feasibility of proposed projects or investments from the economic point of view. The projects or investments include such products, tools, a commercial building, roads, an industry, or even an area of industry.

Setelah lulus mata kuliah ini, mahasiswa mampu:
1. Menemukenali konsep-konsep ekonomi teknik mencakup nilai waktu terhadap uang, ekivalensi, bunga majemuk, dan rumus-rumus matematika finansial (LO2).
2. Menganalisis beberapa metode pembayaran / penerimaan, laju pengembalian, penentuan harga suatu produk, ratio manfaat / biaya (LO3).
3. Menentukan kelayakan proyek atau investasi dari beberapa alternative usulan proyek yang ada dan memilih satu proyek yang paling menguntungkan berdasarkan manfaat ekonomi (LO6)
