Abstract
The focus of this study was to explore the knowledge of ten young learner teachers by looking at what they have known about the method they applied which called TPR. This study was done to answer the research question “To what extent teachers’ understanding towards the use of Total Physical Response in Salatiga?” This study used semi structured interview as the research method and the result of this study were: a). The young learner teachers still have limited view toward the use of TPR, b). TPR activities used by the teachers in the classroom are varied, c). The classroom management becomes the teachers’ challenge, d). The teachers’ creativity is needed when applied TPR in the classroom, and e). TPR can be used to teach science and mathematics.
