OMUNITASPT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk.

OMMUNITYPT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk. (Danamon) today announced its annual event, Danamon Young Leaders Award 2009 (DYLA), an educational program for students who have sound leadership skills and knowledge in business as well as awareness of social and environmental issues. Danamon Young Leaders Award is part of Danamon corporate social responsibility in the field of education.
Now in its third year, DYLA raises the theme of ‘Eco Campus Challenge’ where young leaders are challenged to think of green project ideas and implement them at their campuses & communities.
“Increasing environmental awareness in our society is a big challenge which must be carried out continuously. Students, as future leaders are a very important element in society who will shape the future.
Therefore, it is important for the young generation to be able to walk the talk and start making a difference in their communities. Simultaneously, this will also be a good opportunity for them to sharpen their leadership capacity and improve project management skills”, said Danamon’s Human Resources Head, Maria Theodora Kurniawati.
Starting July 9-11, 30 selected participants will attend a 3-day-training on green awareness, leadership, social entrepreneurship and project management in Danamon Kampus Ciawi, Bogor, to equip them in their project implementation from July through to August. DYLA winners will be announced on August 7, 2009.
First place winner of DYLA will then continue to represent Indonesia in the East Asia Environmental Forum, 19-23 September 2009 in Osaka, Japan.
“Thirty out of hundreds of green projects have made it through the rigorous selection process this year where applicants come from various universities around the country. Projects selected are those who address real environmental issues in the campus or community, we seek projects that are simple yet create significant impact. This year we’ve received submissions ranging from socialization of bio-energy usage as renewable energy alternative, application of eco-enzyme as environmentally friendly multi-cleaning agents for household, to using re-usable meal box for food in campuses”, concluded Maria.
