OF MOUNT SINABUNG IN KARO REGENCY, Supervised by Prof. Dr. Ir. Darma Bakti MS and Dr. Ir. Marheni MP. This research aims to know diversity of insects in arabica coffee plantations affected by volcanic ash eruptions and to know important pests and natural enemies in the land of coffee plantations on the land affected by the eruption. This research was conducted in three villages in Simpang Empat district, Karo Regency and one village in Dairi Regency and pest and diseases plant Laboratory Faculty of Agriculture, North Sumatra, Medan in August until October 2015. This research used four traps insects (sweep net, pitfall trap, yellow trap and handpicking), and repeated four times.
The results showed insects caught on the land affected by eruption there are 11 Order and 34 family, the highest relative density value is 43.92919%, the lowest amounted to 0.049863% and the value of insect diversity index Shannon-Weiner (H ') is 1.97543 (moderate) whereas land is not affected by eruption there are 11 orders and 40 family with the highest relative density value is 34.29 685%, the lowest amounted to 1.408% and the value of insect diversity index is 2.325 (moderate).

Harun Bonael Nainggolan, “KEANEKARAGAMAN JENIS SERANGGA PADA PERTANAMAN Coffea arabica L. SETELAH ERUPSI ABU VULKANIK GUNUNG SINABUNG DI KABUPATEN KARO”, di bawah bimbingan Prof. Dr. Ir. Darma Bakti MS dan Dr. Ir. Marheni MP. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keanekaragaman jenis serangga pada lahan pertanaman kopi arabika yang terkena erupsi abu vulkanik dan untuk mengetahui hama penting dan musuh alami pada lahan pertanaman kopi pada lahan terkena erupsi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di 3 Desa di Kec. Simpang Empat, Kab. Karo dan 1 Desa di Kab. Dairi. dan Laboratorium Hama dan Penyakit Tanaman, Fakultas Pertanian, Sumatera Utara, Medan pada bulan Agustus sampai Oktober 2015. Penelitian ini menggunakan 4 teknik perangkap serangga (Sweep Net, Pitfall Trap,Yellow Sticky Trap dan Handpicking), dan diulang sebanyak empat kali.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan serangga yang tertangkap pada lahan terkena erupsi terdapat dari 11 Ordo dan 34 family, nilai Kerapatan relatif tertinggi sebesar 43.92919%, yang terendah sebesar 0,049863% dan indeks keanekaragaman Shanon-Weiner (H’) 1.97543 (sedang) sedangkan pada lahan tidak terkena erupsi terdapat 11 ordo 40 family dengan nilai Kerapatan Relatif tertinggi sebesar 34,29685%, yang terendah sebesar 1,408% dan nilai indeks keanekaragaman serangga sebesar 2,325 (sedang).
