Lampiran 1

Langkah – Langkah Dalam Melakukan Simulasi Perbandingan

Kinerja Jaringan Standar IEEE 802.11 Terhadap Perubahan

Packet Generation Rate

Dalam melakukan simulasi perbandingan kinerja jaringan standar IEEE

802.11 terhadap perubahan packet generation rate, ada beberapa langkah yang

perlu dilakukan, yaitu :

1.

Instalasi simulator Pamvotis 1.1 pada Personal Computer (Laptop)

Langkah awal yang dilakukan yaitu melakukan instalasi terhadap

simulatorPamvotis 1.1 pada Personal Computer (Laptop). Simulasi Pamvotis 1.1

terintegrasi dengan program Java sehingga harus melakukan instalasi software

berbasis Java seperti

Java Platform SE Binary.

2.

Menentukan parameter – parameter yang dibutuhkan

Setelah melakukan instalasi simulator Pamvotis 1.1, maka akan muncul

tampilan awal Pamvotis 1.1 WLAN Simulator seperti yang ditunjukkan Gambar

Setelah muncul tampilan Pamvotis 1.1 WLAN Simulator, maka langkah

selanjutnya yang harus dilakukan yang perencanaan parameter yang dibutuhkan

untuk mendapatkan hasil yang diinginkan. Parameter – parameter tersebut ada

yang merupakan parameter tetap yang sifatnya tidak perlu diubah – ubah untuk

melakukan simulasi ini karena bukan parameter tersebut yang ingin diteliti dan

ada juga parameter yang sifatnya harus dilakukan perubahan – perubahan untuk

mendapatkan hasil seperti yang diharapkan seperti yang ditunjukkan oleh Gambar

2(a) dan Gambar 2(b)

configuration ketika kita memilih configure pada node configuration. Parameter –

parameter pilihan dalam simulasi ini yaitu :physical layer, data rate, access

mechanism, number of node, packet length mean, dan packet generation rate

mean. Pada Gambar 2 terlihat bahwa parameter seed, simulation time, number of

values per statistic,RTS threshold dan access mechanism didapatkan pada

tampilan awal simulator seperti yang ditunjukkan pada Gambar 2 (a) tetapi

parameter packet length distribution, packet generation rate distribution,

physical layer, data rate, number of node, packet length mean, dan packet

generation rate mean didapatkan pada kotak dialog simulation configuration

ketika kita memilih configure pada node configuration seperti yang ditunjukkan

pada Gambar 2 (b).

Menentukan hasil output

melihat nilai rata – rata untuk tiap kinerja terhadap jumlah node, cukup dengan

memilih mean value seperti yang ditunjukkan pada Gambar 3.

Pada bagian directory to save result, kita dapat memilih tempat

penyimpanan folder hasil simulasi yang akan kita lakukan seperti yang

ditunjukkan oleh Gambar 4. Setelah kita pilih hasil output beserta tempat

penyimpanannya, maka kita siap untuk melakukan running simulasi. Setelah

melakukan running, maka kita harus menunggu selama beberapa saat sampai

simulasi selesai selama beberapa menit.

Running simulation

Setelah running simulasi selesai, maka hasil output akan muncul pada media

penyimpanan yang telah kita pilih dalam bentuk notepad. Simulasi yang

dilakukan dalam hal ini harus dilakukan dalam perulangan. Misalkan kita telah

melakukan simulasi untuk standar IEEE 802.11a pada teknologi basic access

untuk packet generation rate berjumlah 25 paket / detik saat jumlah node adalah 1

node, maka kita akan melakukan tahapan simulasi seperti yang telah dijelaskan

tadi untuk standar fisik, teknologi multiple access, dan packet generation rate

yang sama tetapi dengan jumlah node yang berbeda.Setelah itu dilakukan proses

simulasi yang berulang pula untuk standar fisik, teknologi multiple access, dan

packet generation rate yang berbeda pula.

Setelah itu, selanjutnya diubah tabel – tabel tersebut ke dalam bentuk grafik

sehingga perbedaan yang diinginkan akan jelas kelihatan.
