The honorable all the judges
The honorable all the participants and my beloved friends.
First of all, I would like to thank to Allah SWT for his blessings and mercies so we can attend and gather in this place in good condition.
I am standing here right now in front of you all and would like to deliver my speech about “The Importance Of Religious Moderation In Indonesia”.
As we know that Indonesia is a high heterogeneity nation in terms of ethnicity, language and religion. As a big nation, Indonesia, which adheres to the Pancasila ideology, needs social asset from these differences. Indonesian society needs harmony in religious life as an important social asset for national development.
A number of violent incidents in various countries suggest that extremism and terrorism are not exclusive to one religion and have no place in any religion. The threat of terror and violence is often the result of the views, attitudes, and extreme actions of a person in the name of religion. At the same time, a moderate attitude that emphasizes justice and balance, can emerge from any one, regardless of religious affiliation.
As a plural and multicultural country, Indonesia is prone to religion -based conflicts.
Religious moderation is needed as a solution so that it can be an important key in
creating a religious life that is harmonious, peaceful, and emphasizes balance, both in personal life, family, community and in the lives of fellow human beings as a whole.
We see many other moslem countries such as Suriah, Libiya, Afghanistan, Irak etc, have been broken by extremism and terrorism, so we have to keep our beloved country, Indonesia, peaceful and harmonious by applying three pillars of harmony.
They are internal religious harmony, inter -religious community harmony and harmony between religious communities and the government.
In order to save our young generation from radicalism and terrorism, the government must absolutely liquidates and forbids the radical mass organizations such as HTI, FPI, PKI, JI, MMI, ISIS and so on and it must take action and punish persons affiliated to those mass organizations prohibited.
In this case, our government is not so firm that still many preachers often give speeches containing radicalism and terrorism that can influence our people especially our young generation that will be seriously dangerous to our country, Indonesia in future.
In the various kinds of social medias we often see some persons bringing suicide bombs to break down government places or other worship places in the name of Jihad or holy war.
They misunderstand 'Jihad' with radicalism, violence, and terrorism which do not have relationship with Islamic religion. Indeed, what they do in making fear for all people and destruction of the country, is on the contrary of the Islamic thought itself. Because Islam, as said in the Holy Quran, is a religion bringing peace.

Finally, let's study, understand, and deepen Islam well and truely as a religion bringing and spreading peace, mercy, tolerance, and affection, so it will be attractive to those who don't know Islam factually. And we must preserve our beloved country in order to be glorious and prosperous forever.
