Widhi Wasa for His blessing during the process of writing this study. The study entitles „Personifications in the Song Lyrics of Fun‟s Albums: Aim and Ignite and
Some Nights‟ is written in order to complete the final task as a requirement to finish
the study program of S1 English Literature.

ABSTRACT
This paper is entitled “Personifications In The Song Lyrics of Fun‟s Albums: Aim and Ignite and Some Nights”. Language is a dress of thought, they provide a
broad structure under which all the types of literature are classified, studied, and understood. The language used in the song is intended for specific purpose. The song writer usually used figure of speech to enable creates a powerful impression and express the thoughts, feelings of the author. We can find figurative language such as personifications in songs lyric. This study is aimed to identifying the personification found in the songs and giving explanation about the meaning of the personification in the songs.
The data were collected directly from the songs lyric of Fun‟s albums as the data source. The data were collected by reading quickly and note taking technique to choose the sentences which are strong of personification. The data were analyzed by using qualitative method, and analyzed based on the theory proposed by Knickerbocker and Reninger (1963) and theory of meaning proposed by Leech (1974).
The finding shows that there are eleven figurative speech of personification from six songs from Fun‟s Album. In this study there are found five personification that are caused by inanimate object treated as human being, one animal, and two abstract idea. One of seven kinds of meaning proposed by Leech is found in this study that is connotative meaning. It can be concluded that figurative speech of personification is expressed with connotative meaning, a meaning we get according to the context and situation.
