ABSTRACT
ARIF AL QUDRY 2015. Effect of Plant Space and Dosage of Nitrogen Fertilizer toward Growth Bud Chip Sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.), supervised by IRSAL and REVANDY I.M. DAMANIK. The objective of the research was studied the effect of sugar cane planting spacing and appropriate applications of nitrogen fertilizer toward growth of sugarcane bud chip. The research was conducted at experimental field of Tanjung Jati estate Binjai PTPN II (± 50 m asl) in August 2014 - January 2015 using a randomized block design with two factors, the first factor was spacing (33 cm, 40 cm, 47 cm) with center to center distance (PKP) was 135 cm and the second factor was dosage of nitrogen fertilizer (45, 90, 135, 180 kg N / ha). Observation variables measured were plant height, stem diameter, number of leave, number of tilles, number of segment, leaf area, shoot dry weight, root dry weight.
The results showed that the diameter of steam on 3 and 5 months after planting (MAP), the number of tiller on 3 and 5 MAP, number of section on 5 MAP, and leaf area on 5 MAP significantly different at the treatment plant spacing. Diameter of steam on 1, 3, and 5 MAP, number of tiller on 1 MAP and leaf area on 5 MAP were significantly different at treatment doses of nitrogen fertilizer. Interaction treatment only significantly effected steam diameter 1 BST and the number of section 5 BST. We recommend that bud chip hight plant spacing to used by 47cm x 135cm.

ARIF AL QUDRY : Pengaruh Jarak Tanam dan Dosis Pupuk Nitrogen Terhadap Pertumbuhan Bud Chip Tebu (Saccharum officinarum L.), dibimbing oleh IRSAL dan REVANDY I.M. DAMANIK. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh jarak tanam tebu dan pemberian pupuk nitrogen yang tepat terhadap pertumbuhan bud chip tebu. Untuk itu suatu penelitian telah dilakukan di lahan percobaan Kebun Tanjung Jati Binjai PTPN II (± 50 m dpl) pada Agustus 2014 – Januari 2015 menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok dengan 2 faktor, pertama yaitu jarak tanam (33 cm, 40 cm, 47 cm) dengan jarak pusat ke pusat (pkp) 135 cm dan kedua yaitu dosis pupuk nitrogen (45, 90, 135, 180 kg N/ha). Peubah amatan yang diamati adalah tinggi tanaman, diameter batang, jumlah daun, jumlah anakkan, jumlah ruas, luas daun, bobot kering tajuk, bobot kering akar.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa diameter batang 3 dan 5 bulan setelah tanam (BST), jumlah anakkan 3 dan 5 BST, jumlah ruas 5 BST, dan luas daun 5 BST berbeda nyata pada perlakuan jarak tanam. Diameter batang 1, 3, dan 5 BST, jumlah anakkan 1 BST, dan luas daun 5 BST berbeda nyata pada perlakuan dosis pupuk nitrogen. Interaksi perlakuan hanya berpengaruh nyata terhadap diameter batang 1 BST dan jumlah ruas 5 BST. Sebaiknya jarak tanam yang digunakan yaitu 47 cm x 135 cm.
