283,0445 m2/g.

ABSTRAK
This study aims to determine 1) the activator concentration, soaking time and the optimum adsorbent mass in adsorption to direct yellow dye waste, 2) functional groups of activated charcoal durian peel before and after the adsorption of the yellow direct dye waste, 3) the amount of surface area charcoal durian peel before and after activation.
Charcoal durian peel as much 500 grams in the oven in a muffle furnace for 3 hours at a temperature 0f 400ºC, and the sieved with a 200 mesh sieve and activated chemically using as HCl activator by weight of chorcoal each 5 gram. Charcoal is then heated in an oven for 1 hour at a temperature 110ºC. Activated charcoal adsorbed HCl in direct yellow dye waste. Adsorption effectiveness of various concentration of activators, soaking time, and adsorbent mass is expressed in terms or percent (%). Characterization of functional groups charcoal durian peel before and after adsorption determine using IR Spectrophotometer, surface area analysis charcoal durian peel before and after activation using a Porosimeter, while maximum wavelength analysis, standard curve, absorbance and concentration of beginings and endings of direct yellow dye wastewater by using UV-Vis Spectrophotometer.
The results of this study showed that the effectiveness of the best adsorption at the optimum condition that is the concentration of activator 0.1 M HCl, soaking time of 150 minutes and 0.5 gram of adsorbent mass with the results are 77.52%; 46.22% and 79.77% respectively. Results of IR spectra of activated charcoal durian peel before and after adsorption does not have additional functional groups, but only a change in the intensity of of absorption, they are the functional group are a carboxylic -OH, C = C double bond and C-H alkens out the field. Durian peel surface area charcoal before activation is 41.4112 m2/g and after
activation of 0.1 M HCl is 283.0445 m2/g.
