1. In general, we heartily recommend that early and earnest effort be made by the Trustees of the University to strengthen the teaching force of that department, and that our people loyally and generously support these

efforts.

A P P E N D I X A 5 7 2. That at least two professors, one of Theology and one of Biblical Interpretation be employed, but with an added one of History, if found practicable—who shall devote their time to the work and interests of the de- partment.

3. That the labors of these professors be supplemented by the em- ployment of non-resident lecturers on subjects in the line of the general aim of the department.

4. We commend to the favorable consideration of the Board of the Education Society the plan of securing individual and systematic subscriptions from our people for the benefit of the department, something after the method adopted by the Missionary Board.

T h i s Society includes all graduates of the University, all per- sons w h o have received degrees from it, m e m b e r s of the F a c u l t y , and former students w h o have been in attendance for one year or more. T h e annual fee is one dollar.

T h e objects of the Society are to foster fraternal intercourse and sympathy, and the interest of its m e m b e r s in their A l m a Mater, as well as to promote the welfare of A l f r e d University.

At the time of its organization in 1886, the Society established a perpetual fund for the benefit of the University, giving it the name of the K E N Y O N - A L L E N E N D O W M E N T F U N D . T h i s fund n o w amounts to u p w a r d s of $10,000. T h e Society has adopted a form of pledge to pay, for the benefit of the fund, one dollar a month for five years; and a considerable amount has already been secured in this manner. P l e d g e s or contributions in cash are solicited, and will be duly a c k n o w l e d g e d and added to the fund.

T h e income of the fund is used, in part to defray the expenses incident to a course of lectures annually before the University, and in part to assist in the payment of the salary of the President.

T h e Society is represented on the B o a r d of T r u s t e e s of the University by nine trustees, three of w h o m are elected each year for a term of three years.

T h e A n n u a l Meeting of the Society is held on W e d n e s d a y of
