Description.—
The
centrodorsal is thick discoidal, bearing a single fairly regular marginalrow
of cirrus sockets; thebroad
flat polar area is4 mm.
in diameter.The
cirriareXV,

to 27mm.
long,rounded rhombic
in cross section, suggesting the cirri of
Neometra
acanthaster, but with the angles, as seen in cross section, less sharpand more rounded
; all thesegments
are approximately equal, about twice asbroad
as long; the ventraland
lateral distal edges of the segments project rather strongly over the bases of those succeeding; the cirri taperslightly inthe outerhalf:on
about the fourthsegment
a faint,very
narrow
longitudinalmedian
ridge is visible; after the middle of the cirrus thisbecomes
a narrow, low, sharp carination, slowly increasing in height distally so that terminally thesegments
bear fairlyprominent rounded
dorsal spines;inthedistalthird of thecirri supplementaryspines appear, oneon
eithersideof themedian
carina-tion, at first small
and
confined to the vicinity of the distal edge of the segments, butbecoming
terminally nearly as large as themedian
spine;the spineon
theantepenultimatesegment
is single;the oppos- ing spine is transversely flattened. As
awhole
the cirri aremoder-
ately stout, suggestingstrongly those of

41The
radials aremoderate
in size, resembling' those ofNeometra
multicolor, except thatthey are not
produced
interradially, or those of Ptilometramacronema.
Their proximal border ismarked
with a series of crescenticgouges
inwhich
theproximal
portion of the basal cirrussegments
are lodged,and which
represent theupper
part of the cirrus sockets.These
last are all partlyon
the centro- dorsaland
partlyon
the radials;the centralcanal,however,
isalwayson
the centrodorsal,though
itmay
be only slightlybelow
itsmargin.The two
elementsof theTBr
series appeartobe unitedby
syzygy,though
the union is probablyby
a very close synarthry; theIBr
t is oblong,two and
one-half to three times asbroad
as long; theIBr
2 (axillary) is broadly pentagonal, twice asbroad
as long; theIBr
x has a sharp tubercle in the middle near the .proximal border, and
another smaller one in the middle of its distal (anterior)margin;
the

2 (axillary) has a tubercle in the middle of each of thetwo
distal edges;the

2 has a tubercleon
each of its distal borders, like theIBr
2.The IBr
series are broad, in close lateral apposition, and
slightly flattened laterally, just as in Ptilometramacronema, and
as in that speciesthecomponent
ossicles are very thin dorsoventrally.The
IIBr
series are 4 (3 -)-4) ; the axillariesand
preceding ossicles resemble those of theIBr
series.The

long; the brachials in general resemble those of such species asGephyrometra
propinqua; as in that species there is a rather sharp overlap, especially at the disto- lateral angles; thearms do
notbecome
laterally flattened distally, nor carinate.Side
and
coveringplates are well developedon
thearms and
pin- nules, asisusualinthegenus

long, smalland
weak, rather strongly prismatic, flexible, with eighteensegments
; it is at first moderately stout, but tapersrapidly after theproximal
third,becoming
exceedingly slenderand
flagellate in the outer half; theproximal segments
are broader than long, the distal slightly longer thanbroad
; the firstsegment
is about twiceas large as the second, though
it does not strike one as being especially enlarged; the secondsegment
is also enlarged, but very slightly; it has a small dorsal carinate process, as has also the third, which
is not enlarged.P

long, with ten segments, ofwhich
the first is short with a slightrounded
dorsal carination,though
nototherwise modified; the secondisabout42

less spinous; the following pinnules are shorter thanP

ventral aspect of the radialpentagon shows
it to be that of a typicalmember
of the Calometridae. In color the calyx, division series,

the sides of thearms
are lightbrown
