Arlene Adler began teadling radiography in 1973 at Mjcl1ael Reese Medical enter in Chicago. In 1977 she became the director of the Radiologic Technology Program at !UN. She has been active in many professional associations including service as a board member of the Association of Educator in Radiologic Sciences, vice-chairman of the Editorial Review Board for the journal Radiologic Technology, and member of the Radiography Exam Committee for the Ame~ican Registry of Radiologic Technologist . She was appointed by the governor to serve on the Indiana Radiation Control Advi ory Comnlission from 1982-88. For this service, she was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash. Bainbridge Baker

Bainbridge, Cheryl Weldy, M.S. (Indiana University, 1975), Visiting Assistant Clinical Professor for Physical Therapy. A graduate of the physical therapy program, Cheryl Bainbridge returned to the program in July 1992 after 23 years of clinical practice. Her primary responsibilities are in coordinating clinical education and in physical therapy management. Prior to returning to Indiana University, she was director of rehab services and clinical coordinator of clinical education at Bloomington Hospital for the pa t 16 years.

She continues to maintain clinical practice in pediatric therapy and to facilitate Quality ln1provement Work Teams at Bloomington Hospital. (IUPUl)

Her teaching po ition have included clinical instructor, clinical coordinator, and didactic instructor. Current

teaching responsibilitie are in the areas of radiographic procedure , radiation biology and protection, patient care, and principles of radiography. Professor Baker has served as pre ident of radiologic ted1nology professional societies at the local, state, and national levels.

Sara Blackburn is section director for Adult Food and Nutrition Services at University Hospital in addition to her faculty appointment. In this capacity, she is responsible for clinical nutrition and food services to patients. Prior to coming to TUPUT in 1991, Dr. Blackburn was director of nutrition and assistant professor at Univer ity Hospital, Stony Brook, New York. She was an assistant professor of nutrition at Florida International University from 1981 to 1987, where she taught courses in nutritional pathophysiology and applied clinical courses.

Brine, Elizabeth, M.S. (Indiana University, 1991), R.O. (1980), Lecturer in Nutrition a11d Dietetics. Elizabeth Brine completed an advanced-level neonatal-pediatric nutrition fellowship at James Whitcomb Riley Hospital for Children and became a neonatal-pediatric dietitian at Riley with responsibility for the nutritional care of high-risk infants including those in the newborn i11tensive care unit. Her master's research evaluated the efficacy of two feeding methods in supporting growth and positive nutritional outcome of infants with cleft palate. She provides nutritional education for medical students, interns, and re idents during their rotation through the newborn intensive care unit and assists in the trainil\g of pediatric nutrition fellows and neonatal practicum students. Burke, William C., Ph.D. (Pennsylvania Stale Llniversihj, 1991), R.R.T. (1987), Assistant Professor and Director of Clinical Education of Respiratory Therapy. William Burke develops and coordinates the clinical curriculum for students in the Respiratory Therapy Program.

His research interests focus on mechanical ventilation and gas exchange techniques. He is a member of the American Thoracic Society, the American Physiological Society, and the American Association for Respiratory Care. He ha coauthored several publications in The journal of Applied Physiology, Chest, and The American Review of Respiratory Disease. (JUPUJ)

Carl Cox

Carl, T. Kay, B.S. (Indiana University, 1967), O.T.R. (1967), Assistant Dean, School of Allied Health Sciences, and Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy. Kay Carl began her career at the Indiana University Medical Center in 1966 as an occupational therapist at Riley Hospital for Children. As a therapist, she specialized in hand splinting and adapted equipment. She then joined the occupational therapy faculty where she was responsible for coordinating the curriculum for the B.S. degree and teaching many of the professional skills courses as well as the human development courses. In 1980, she shifted the focus of her work to the school' administrative office. She now oversees the Office of Student and Academic Affairs, which is responsible for all aspects of the scl10ol's student population.

(R) (1979), Assistant Professor of Radiologic Sciences. Linda Cox has worked in radiologic sciences since 1979. She worked several years in diagnostic radiography including five years in the Wi hard Emergency Room. She also worked in the fields of computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. Professor Cox's teaching responsibilities include clinical education at the Veterans Administration Hospital and special imaging in the A.S.

Crabtree Cullen

Crabtree, William N., M.S. (Indiana University, 1983), C.T. (ASCP) (1977), S.C.T. (ASCP) (1987), Program Director and Associate Professor of Cytotechnologi;. William Crabtree was engaged in cancer research in the departments of urology and pathology at the University of Te1messee in Memphis from 1977-82. He joined the Indiana University faculty iJ11982.

Profes or Crabtree is involved in all aspects of the cytotechnology program with a particular emphasis on urinary cytology and research topics. He received the Distinguished Teaching Award from the Indiana University School of Allied Health Sciences in 1989. Professor Crabtree's primary areas of research are analytical and quantitative cytology. He is a member of several professional associations and serves on the editorial board of Acta Cytologica. Cullen, Deborah L., Ed.D. (University of Southern California, 1989), R.R.T. (1977), Associate Professor nnd Director of the Respiraton;

Therapy Program, Chairperson of the Department of Cardiopulmontiry Science. After Deborah Cullen joined the faculty in 1990, she renovated the curriculum and initiated new clinical specialties for pecialty education. She is both a futurist and ethnographer, focusing research interests through these

methodologies. Her research and teaching areas include nicotine dependency, geriatrics, and respiratory care education. She has authored many articles related to mentoring and geriatrics. Professor Cullen is a member of several professional organizations and currently serves as president-elect of the American Association for Respiratory Care.

She received the first Mary P. Huddleson Award from the American Dietetic Association for excellence in a researdl publication, authored or coauthored papers in refereed journals, book d1apters, and monographs related to infant nutrition and research. Janet Everly teaches documentation classes and the physical dysfunction theory and practice course work in the Department of Occupational Therapy.

She worked at Riley Hospital for Children for seven years prior to joining the occupational therapy faculty and continues to work there part time. She has a specialty certification in pediatric occupational therapy and

certification in administration of the Sensory Integration and Praxis Te ts. Her researd1 and publications have highlighted accessible playgrounds, transportation safety, and student stress and coping styles. Cel Hamant's professional career as an occupational therapist ha been at the Indiana Univer ity Medical Center. Starting on the Occupational Therapy (OT) staff at the Cerebral Palsy Center in 1964, she became supervisor of Pediatric OT Service in 1969, director of the OT Department in 1974, and chairperson and director of occupational therapy in 1984. She has been a consultant and speaker nationwide on topics related to occupational therapy services for multihandicapped persons in residential

Hoban was appointed acting clinkal coordinator in 1990 and acting program director in 1992, receiving final appointment in December. She directs the MLT-AD, PBT and HT Certificates, and the MT-BS and MLT /MT- BS articulation programs. She is a member of the ASCLS, !SCLS, and AS P, serves a district chair for the state, and is adviser for the campus student dub. Linda Hofmeister spent one year as a clinical dietitian before moving into administrative and management dietetic . She joined the Lutheran General Health Care System, Park Ridge, [ilinois, in 1975 as administrative dietitian, became operations coordi11ator in 1976, and advanced to department director in 1987. Ln 1988 she moved to Indianapolis to assume the director hip of nutrition and dietetics. Professor Hofmeister's principal area is the management course work. He founded the company Physical Therapy Services, Ltd., and was president of Baxter Physical Therapy Division, a physical therapy section which grew to 50 locations nationwide. He has authored, coauthored, edited, and published many texts on sports medicine and physical therapy.
