FINDINGS AND DISCUSSIONS

enhance the students pronunciation in pre test and post test. The students’

achievement in post test is greater than in pre test.

Grafik 1. The mean score of students speaking skills in pronunciation

The chart above shows that there is improvement of students’

speakingskills in terms of pronunciation from the pre-test with the mean score is 49.2 to the post-test with the mean score 65.01, so the improvement from pre-test to post-test was 15.81. The improvement was 32.20%.It proves that there is significant improvement for the students’speakingskills in term of pronunciation using Improvisation techique at the eleventh grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah Disamakan Makassar.

2. The improvement of students’ speaking skills in term of pronunciation through Improvisation techique

The findings of this research deal with the students’ score. They are the mean scores of pre test and post test, the rate percentage and

frequency of pre test and post test and the t-test value. These findings describe as follows:

The data in table 4.2 shows that the students ability in speaking as the result calculating of students pre test and post test after taught by using Improvisation techique.

The mean score of the students in pre test was (53.34) the mean score of post test was (7.65). Therefore, the use of Improvisation techique can enhance the students vocabularyin pre test and post test. The students’

achievement in post test is greater than in pre test.

The improvement was 18.76%. It proves that there is significant improvement for the students’speaking skills in term of vocabulary using Improvisation techique at the eleventh grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah Disamakan Makassar.

3. Thesignificant student’s speaking skills in term of pronunciation and vocabulary student’s speaking skills

The significance of the students’ speaking skills in term of pronunciation and vocabulary to know the level of significance of the pre test and post test. The researcher used t-test analysis in the level of significance p (0.05 ) with the degree of freedom (df) = N-1, where N number of subject (20) students then the value of t-table is 2.093.

In other to know whether or not the mean score was different from two test (pre-test and post-test), the researcher used the t-table. The following table shows the result of the t-test calculation:

Table 4.3

The t-test of students’ achievement

Variable t-test t-table

Speaking skills 6.67 2.093

Table 4.3 indicates that the value of the t-test was higher than the value of the t-table. It indicates that there was a significant difference between the result of the students’ pre-test and post-test.

To find out the degree of freedom (df), the researcher used the following formula:

Df = N-1 (N = Number of students)

Df = 20–1

Df = 19

For the level of significance (p) 0.05 and df 19, the value of the t- test 6.67 was higher than t-table 2.093 . It means that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. So the researcher concludes there was a significant difference between the result of the students’ pre-test and post-test achievement after giving Improvisation techique.
