At the suggestion of the Treasurer of 1 he Uni- versitv, the Executive Committee began a mO\'elnent, earlv l-ast veal' to create _ t a One Hundred Thousand DoHar Centennial fund to be -completed not later than 1936, ,,,hen Alfred University will celebrate its first centennial. This fund is to be l'~ised by a popular subscription of 11lany small gifts. The fund is to he held in trust, and only the interest used by the University. The 'rrustees at the an- l1ual meeting il; June, 1899, fOr1nally adopted the plan,

THE FIRST SEVENTH-DAY BAPTfST CHURCH OF NEW YORK CITY has pcl;d during the year $56.40 on its One Thousand Dollar Scholarship, established in 1899, so that thc amount paid is now $156.40.

THE FIRST SEVENTH-DAY BAPTIST CHVRCH OF ALFRED SCHOLARSHIP has been increased $71.69, making a total of $294.44.

THE LILLIAN BROWN SCHOLARSHIP w"as established in June, 1900, by Hon. Isaac B. Brown and wife, of Har- risburg, Pa., in memory of their deceased daughter. The full amount of $1,000 was paid.

Dr. Fred T. Hog-ers, of Proyic1ence, Rhode Island, prc- sented to the Unh'crsity on Alumni day of Comlnence- ment week, an excellent oil painting of his father, the late Professor 'Yillian1 A. Hogers, I.·L. D. This portrait 1S very highly prized by the Unh-ersity. It is hung in the As- se111bly r00111 of K.cnyoll ~Ilemorial Hall, where a collec- tion of portraits of prominent professors and patrons of the Cniversity is being made. It is the work of the dis- tinguished artist, Hugo Brent, and is one of his bcst paintings.
