TECHNICAL NOTES
1. Astronomically, Sulawesi Selatan is located between 0° 12’ North latitude and 8° South latitude, and between 116 48’ and 112 36’ East longitude and lies on equator line located at 00 latitude line.
2. In terms of geographic position, Sulawesi Selatan has boundaries as follows: North – Sulawesi Barat Province; South – Flores Sea; West – Makassar Strait; East – Bone Gulf and Sulawesi Tenggara Province.

5. BPS-Statistics Indonesia has already recorded village potential (Podes) since 1980. Since then, Podes regularly implemented 3 (three) times within ten years to support the activities of the Population Census, Agriculture Census, or Economic Census. Thus, important facts related to the availability of infrastructure and the potential possessed by each region can be monitored regularly and continually.

7. Podes data is the only one source of spatial data consisting of various information and providing a picture of development progress in a region.
The Podes data are different from data resulted from household surveys focusing on the dimension of sectoral activities. Both kind of data are important and become the trade mark of BPS on the data richness aspect.
8. Podes Coverage
Podes enumeration is implemented as a cencus of the lowest governmental administrative region equivalent to village (i.e. village, sub-district, nagari, and Transmigration Settlement Unit which is still fostered by the relevant ministries). There were 82,190 village-level areas spread over 511 regencies/municipalities based on the result of Podes 2014.

9. Method of Data Collection
Data collection of Podes 2014 carried out through direct interviews by trained personnel with relevant respondents. The interviewers are BPS Regency/Municipality personnel or partners, meanwhile, the selected respondents are the village head/sub-district head or other respondents who have the knowledge towards the target area of enumeration.
10. Coastal Village/Coastal Sub-District is a village/sub-district which some areas are intersect/directly adjacent to the sea, either gently sloping/flat beach or cliffs/reef.
11. Non Coastal Village/Non Coastal Sub-District is a village which has no area that intersect/directly adjacent to the sea.
