DOLICHOTRYPES,

new genus.

Antennae inserted just above

mouth

parts, ten-segmented, with an apparent ring-joint; the scape long; the funicle three-segmented, the firstsegment being longest and the last shortest; theclub four-segmented; lateral ocelli nearer to the

compound

eyes than to the front ocellus; parapsidal furrows complete or obsoleteanteriorl)'; scutellumbifoveolate at base, producedat apex into ashort, blunt spine; metapleurae with a long slenderspine on each side,

or less obscured

by

the

vestiture; wings veinless; hind wings contracted at base;

middleandposteriortrochanterselongate, theirfemoraspindle- shaped, the tibias strongly pedunculate;

abdomen

broadly ses- sile, that of the female with five segments, margined at the

sides, the last threebeinggreatlyelongateand flattened, seven times as long as the first

two

together, the entire

abdomen

eighttimes as long as the thorax;

abdomen

of the male short, acute, five-segmented, the first segment as long as the rest taken together.

Type, the following

new

species.

This genus belongs tothe Platygasterinse, and in Dr. Ash- mead's table to the genera of that subfamilyin the Journal of the

New York

Entomological Society, vol. xi, p. 96, the female will run to the second alternate of category 6 but dif- fers at once from Polymecus Foerster as there defined by the

factthat the club of the antennae possesses but four segments and that the lateral ocelli are nearer to the

compound

eyes than to the frontocellus.

The

males of Dolichotrypes run in the keyto Sactogastcr Foerster.

The

genusisevidently closely related to Polvmccns, ofwhich species are

known

with a foursegmented antennal club. Poly- mccns compressiventris is the species which approaches Doli- chotrvpes most closely.

The

males of Polyinccns differ in having a six-segmented antennalclub,the first segmentof the funicle short, the second segmentelongate and twisted. Both sexes differin the proportions of the abdominal segments.

Dolichotrypeshopkinsi,

new

species.

Black, except baseofscape and legs including coxa?, arebrownish yellow andthe restof the antennae are dark brown. Mostly smooth andhighly polished.
