ABSTRACT
A Critical Discourse Analysis on 2019 Presidential Election Issue in The Jakarta Post

In this thesis, the writer discusses about the representation of presidential election issue which concerns towards two candidates consist of Jokowi Widodo and Prabowo Subianto as presidential candidate and Ma’ruf Amin and Sandiaga Uno as vice presidential candidate reflected in The Jakarta Post online neswpaper.
This research is conducted under the study of Critical Discourse Analysis using The Discourse-Historical Approach (DHA) from Wodak (2009). Due to the form of analysis on the actors of presidential candidates, this research is confined to only three of the strategies, most salient as they occurred most frequently in the analysis, namely nomination, predication and argumentation. Also, The writer used sketchengine to find the most-frequent word, keyword, and concordance to help the writer find the data.
The result of this analysis shows that TJP online newspaper widely discussed three actors by using their proper name which is Jokowi, Prabowo and Ma’ruf as the representation.
Meanwhile, one actor which is Sandiaga are widely discussed by TJP online newspaper using his title before mentioning his proper name. Also, TJP online newspaper represents those actors by using such as verb and auxiliry that concerning to their action as a form of their strategy campaign rather than talking about their characters.
