The health of the student body was generally good.. no death occurred among the students. Two members of the Board of Trustees have passed away, Herbert L. Wheeier, and Frank L. Greene. Other members of the teaching staff remained as in the previous year, and all continued to work faithfully and efficiently.
The board's application for an additional building for the ceramic school to cost $175,000 was approved by the state Department of Education, but the item was not included in the governor's budget for this year. An appropriation of $15,000 has been made to defray the State's · share of the 50 per cent, of the cost of the .village sewer system, which was taken over by Alfred University. The Faculty of Agriculture has been as sensible as last year, and the work has continued as before, with an increase of four in student intake.
Clawson Hospital's second year has further demonstrated its importance and usefulness to the University. The President once again reminds the committee of the generosity and wisdom of Dr.

In football, our record last year was better than the previous year, although in terms of wins it was not equal to some years in the past. There has been some concern about making a change in the Athletic Coaches workforce, but after careful consideration of the whole situation it was deemed prudent to continue the current workforce for another year in the belief that. Trustee assistance to faculty members for graduate study. The Trustees made available in July 1928 an appropriation of $1,000 for the assistance of the faculty members, up to an amount of $200.00 per person for graduate study.
Five faculty members took advantage of this assistance during last year's summer school. The Trustees felt that with current relatively small salaries, we could use this amount wisely to encourage our faculty members to do so. It is hereby recommended that the same amount shall be available for the assistance of faculty members for their graduate studies in the coming year.
This resulted in the awarding of such deferred obligation last year to about thirty students '.in'. At present we have accepted student commitment for over $6,000 in the two .years;.

The tuition bills for the first and second semesters have been prepared and sent by post and the usual recording of grades and preparation of transcripts is still part of the regular work. The office's efficiency has been significantly increased during the year with the addition of a transcript printing system, which has proven very useful, especially when making a large number of copies for one student. At a recent meeting of the faculty of the university, it was decided to recommend to the authorities of the university the purchase of suitable photographic equipment, at a cost not equal to that of the university.
This will allow the registrar's office to obtain small photographs that can be placed on the student's records and be that. The Registrar wishes to take this opportunity to acknowledge the efficient work done by his secretary, Miss Ruth K.

REPORT OF .THE DIREOTOR OF THE SUMMER SOHOOL
The Suinmer School now appears to be on a firm footing, as another payment of one thousand dollars has been turned in during the past year. The time has come when the trustees should vote to authorize the director to raise wages · above two hundred· fifty dollars for six weeks, which is now the maximum allowed. The principal recommends that the trustees vote a "summer school" pay scale somewhat commensurate' with the pay scale used during the regular academic year.
The prospects for the summer session of 1929 are excellent, and another prosperous session is expected.
