Notification of Transfer Applicants
Applicants will be notified of the admission decision by December 1 and portfolios will be returned on or before that date. Art transfer students admitted and placed at the junior studio level may not enter in the spring semester; they must begin the Freshman Foundation program in the fall semester.

Involuntary Withdrawal of Acceptance
Tuition, Room and Board 2016-2017
For continuing students, a $500 housing contract cancellation fee is payable for off-campus after June 1 or $500 plus a prorated amount of room rent after the start of the semester. The prorated amount is based on the number of calendar weeks of the previous semester.
Billing and Payments
Students who withdraw or take a leave of absence after the start of the semester or otherwise withdraw from the board plan will be charged $100 plus a prorated amount of the board payment balance, or the board payment balance, whichever is less. Students will not be allowed to receive a degree or transcripts if they are delinquent in meeting their financial obligations to the University or any university organization.

If Alfred University does not have to return all excess funds, you must return the remaining amount. Alfred University may also charge you for any Title IV funds that the school was required to return.

Athletics
This past year's intramural offerings included: 3v3 basketball, 5v5 soccer, 3v3 soccer, 6v6 co-ed soccer, 5v5 basketball and 6v6 co-ed volleyball. The university also offers club team status in the following sports/activities: men's baseball, cheerleading, co-ed quidditch, co-ed bowling, men's and women's rugby, co-ed badminton, co-ed fencing, co-ed martial arts and mixed kick and clay pigeon club .
Campus Center
Men's intercollegiate sports include football, cross country, track, basketball, soccer, lacrosse, swimming and diving, and tennis. With a focus on participation in competitive physical play, the program is open to the entire university community (bachelor's and master's students, faculty and staff).
Wellness Center
CDC educates Alfred University students to develop lifelong career skills using centralized professional services, including career counseling/counseling, experiential education, campus recruiting, web-based services, and special events/workshops. The mission of the Wellness Education program is to promote lifelong healthy lifestyle choices through education, activities and services to the campus community.

Prescriptions for medicine can be filled in Alfred at Alfred Apoteket or called in to the students' preferred places. Other types of specialist services can be arranged through referrals to local hospitals in Hornell and Wellsville and GPs in the area.
Housing
With a broad spectrum of architectural and environmental styles available, choices range from traditional residence halls to suites and apartments. Residence halls are coed per floor; that is, a floor with men, a floor with women; or mixed per suite - that is, a suite of men can be next to a suite of women; or coed through alternating rooms in designated hallway-style buildings for upperclassmen.

The Director of Residence Life, Associate Director, and Assistant Directors are also available to help students adjust to their new social and educational environment. The Office of Residence Life, located in Bartlett Hall, is an available resource for student housing issues.
Hazing Policy
Residence hall living includes increased, independent responsibilities and participation in activities planned to promote community and learning. Additionally, New York State defines hazing as follows: “A person is guilty of hazing in the first degree when, in the initiation of another person or association with any organization, he willfully or recklessly engages in conduct that creates a substantial risk of physical injury to another person or a third person and thereby causes such injury." (Penal Law S120.16) Harassment in the second degree (misdemeanor) includes an almost identical definition, except that no actual injury to any person must be proved.

University Academic Program
Recommendation for the award of the degree must be made by the faculty in the student's major area, and approved by the Chair or Director, the College or School Dean and the Provost. While the original grade is no longer used in the GPA, it remains part of the record and appears on the student's transcript.
Academic Standing
A student with multiple semesters on Academic Probation or Extended Academic Probation, whether or not the semesters are consecutive, may be suspended or dismissed. A student who is eligible for academic suspension for a second time or who would be on Academic Probation/Extended Academic Probation for a third consecutive semester may be academically dismissed.
Academic Honors
A student on academic probation who fails to achieve the minimum term and cumulative GPAs for a second consecutive semester may be placed on extended academic probation or academic suspension, or may be dismissed. Students may appeal their suspension or dismissal through the dean to the Scholastic Standards Committee of the college or school that imposed academic sanctions on the student.

The college's archive stores historical documents and photographs relating to the college's history. Decisions as to whether a transfer course fulfills a specific general education requirement are made by the dean in consultation with the academic program overseeing that specific general education area. If the student has expressed an interest in an individual major at the time of matriculation, the student will be assigned to an advisor within that major.
General Education Requirements for All Students
Written Communication (Attribute 01)
Students may also demonstrate this skill through a Language Placement Exam or Challenge Exam administered by the Department of Modern Languages, although successful completion of the Language Placement Exam will not provide academic credit. Students do not need to take the Language Placement Exam if they plan to study a language they have not previously learned.
Quantitative Reasoning (Attribute 03)
Students wishing to demonstrate proficiency in a language not offered by Alfred should consult with the chair of the Modern Languages Department, and more information can be found at http://las.alfred.edu/modern-languages/language-placement-exam . cfm. The Department of Modern Languages does not accept courses taken online for transfer credit toward the general education competency in foreign languages.

Proposals are then reviewed by the ISM faculty steering committee and the dean and must be approved at the beginning of the student's junior year. Interdepartmental Major
The Individually Structured Major offers students the opportunity to structure an independent, interdisciplinary major in cases where the student's plan of study cannot be accommodated by one or more of the existing majors within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Students interested in beginning the application process for an ISM should meet with the Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences no later than mid-semester of the sophomore year, as the application involves several steps and requires research and time.

With the completion of the minor, students in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, who have successfully completed appropriate business courses during their studies, may be eligible to enter Alfred University's Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and within one year meet the requirements for that degree upon receipt. the bachelor's degree. Students interested in middle or high school teaching typically choose a major in the field they want to teach (eg, History, Math, Spanish, Art) while simultaneously completing a minor in education. . The minor in Cultural Anthropology supports students in the broad perspectives, subject matter, and methods of the discipline.

It allows students to take core coursework in two of the major areas of anthropology (cultural and physical) or allows students to focus more on cultural and linguistic anthropology and related topics in two additional elective courses. The Division of Education
Those seeking certification in Business and Marketing must be enrolled in a business major in the College of Professional Studies. Students must also successfully complete a progress interview with teaching faculty members before being allowed to continue in the minor.
Programs in Health and Human Performance
The letter will be reviewed and decided by the Athletic Training Appeals Committee (consisting of the Program Director, full-time Athletic Training Department faculty/staff, and the Dean of the College of Professional Studies). Athletic training students will be evaluated twice each semester (mid-term and at the end of the semester) by their respective teacher.
