Reminder Regarding Emergency Closings (Weather or Other)
Should President Edmondson, in consultation with his staff, announce a full or partial closing of the University, only those persons designated as "Essential Personnel" will be compensated for continued work on the campus. If the University closes for a partial day all "non-essential" persons are to leave at the announced closing time (and no sooner than the announced closing time in cases where your department staggers its departures.)
If you report to work to find the University has closed you are asked to return home as soon as it is reasonably safe to do so, given whatever conditions exist.
If the University suspends classes, an announcement will be made on radio and television stations listed in the Alfred University Inclement Weather Closing Policy as well as via e-mail and voice mail. If classes are continued but non-essential personnel do not have to report, the announcement will be made by e-mail and voice mail but there will be no media announcement.
Please recognize that President Edmondson, as our official designee, is the only person authorized to declare a closing or partial closing of the University.
The Alfred University Inclement Weather Closing Policy may be found on the HR Policy Web site at Our.alfred.edu, see attachment below.
Questions can be directed to Human Resource Services at ext. 2909 or 2276.

Time for Annual Evaluations
Annual Evaluation of our employees is an important opportunity for review of each employee's work performance.
If you are a supervisor, you will be receiving an e-mail in the near future from Human Resources with the form to use for evaluating your employees. Please take the time and make the effort to complete the evaluation form. Be fair, unbiased, and objective in your review(s). Discuss the evaluation with your employee who also has the opportunity to make comments on the form if he/she wishes. This is an important discussion; make meaningful comments as to each individual's particular strengths and areas for growth and/or improvement too. Good communication leads to a good working relationship between you and your staff.

Limited Time: Art Therapy Interest Gauge
What art therapy is: the use of the process of creation of art and/or resulting art piece to aid in the understanding and treatment of emotional and mental trauma/disturbance.
There are currently flyers up in Harder Hall (around the corner from the art office), the Science Center (outside the psychology office), and Myers Hall (see Corrie Burdick, 3rd floor) announcing an informal art therapy interest gauge. More flyers will be up soon.
The purpose of this is to find out how much interest there is on the Alfred University campus in regards to seeing/participating in a renewed AU art therapy club and/or seeing/participating in a potential official AU art therapy major/minor program. I and a few other people are willing to work on this if interest is significant.
If you are interested in art therapy, please help the cause by signing your name on one of those aforementioned flyers or contacting myself at [email protected].
Thank you!

Electronic Forms Service Available from ITS
In an effort to streamline AU's data collection process, ITS is offering an Electronic Forms service to the campus. AU offices may convert existing paper forms to online forms using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro.
Specially formatted PDF forms can be submitted to an E-Forms administration page on the staff portal.
The forms are reviewed by ITS and published to the E-forms pages on the staff and student portals.
Once the forms have been filled out, they can be retrieved from a restricted folder on AU's U drive. For the safety of the AU community, ITS cannot publish any forms asking for Social Security numbers or any other sensitive personal information.
Any staff member interested in submitting E-forms for publication must obtain permission from a supervisor and complete required E-Forms training. Training will be provided on an as-needed basis.
