Campus Parking Alert

Winter has found Alfred and with that the parking problems that go along with it. I would like to ask everyone parking a vehicle on campus to park in an orderly fashion. A number of vehicles have been taking more than one space causing a bad situation.

Please, when you're parking your vehicle think of the others who need to park with you. Thank you for your cooperation.

What's on your AU experiences 'bucket list'?

A recent mainstream movie popularized the idea of having a "bucket list" of things to see and do before you die. Well, we're not going to go quite that far, but we're looking for your ideas to pass along to new and current AU students about experiences they should have and places they should go

before leaving campus.

Several current students are working on their own list to pass along to incoming freshmen but we thought alumni, faculty/staff would provide a complementary perspective.

Please send your lists to Debbie Clark at [email protected] by Monday, Jan. 24, 2011.

Exhibition of Prototype Sculptures by Paul Higham

Herrick Library invites you to view a small exhibition of early (1975-2005) prototype sculptures by Paul Higham. The sculptures are on display in Herrick's main entry through mid-February.

International Scottish-born artist Paul Higham uses digital technology in his art. He is the progenitor of data sculpture, a way of generating and synthesizing form by using code, genetic algorithms and real time data mining. His data driven works deal with the commodification of information and the dynamics of data itself.

Paul Higham will be teaching courses in 3D modeling, Rapid Prototype Technology, 3D Scanning and Digital Foundry at Alfred this semester.

Why Not Save Money on Your Prescriptions?

Several retailers (including Wegman's) will provide Free antibiotic prescriptions just to get you in their store!

Also, you can often save money on many generic prescriptions by NOT using your insurance plan. In many circumstances, you can purchase generic prescription medication at local pharmacies for less than you are paying in co-pays.

For example, if you take the generic version of Pravachol for a cholesterol condition or Synthroid for a thyroid condition you could purchase these medications without insurance for as little as $3.99 per month or $9.99 for a 90-day supply.

This example is based on purchasing the medicine at a ShopRite pharmacy. Other stores such as Wal- Mart and Walgreens also offer discounts. Check out their Web sites as well other drugstores near you.
