Budgeting and Money Management

Budgeting and money management is a key life skill! If you don't know how to do it, you can find yourself deep in debt very quickly. Learn how to manage a personal budget, build a cash-flow

spreadsheet, and figure out where you should be spending your money, and what you should probably cut out of your budget.

Questions? Email the Judson Leadership Center at [email protected].

This workshop will be held at the Judson Leadership Center on 11/17/2014 at 12:10 to 1:10 p.m.

Location: The Institute for Electronic Arts at the School of Art and Design of the College of Ceramics Date: Nov. 17 - 21

Sponsored by: The Institute for Electronic Arts and the Division of Expanded Media

Man Bartlett, of New York, NY, will be participating in residency at the Institute for Electronic Arts the week of Nov. 17. Bartlett received his B.A. in 2003 from Emerson College in Boston, MA. His work includes drawing, collage, VHS video, durational online performance, animations, and experimental audio.

During the course of his residency, Bartlett has proposed to use the facilities of the IEA and the surrounding environment to record and experiment with analog and digital frequencies that will be incorporated into a 24-hour audio piece he is developing, entitled "24-hour Raga," inspired by Classical Indian raga, which combines psychoacoustic binaural audio with recordings of clandestine numbers stations.

Bartlett is also seeking audio from crowd-sourced responses to a request of people to call a number and leave a message describing what they are seeing at a particular moment and would like to conduct interviews with willing participants.

More information and work can be viewed on Bartlett's website: http://www.manbartlett.co....

To participate in interviews with Bartlett please contact Devin Henry at [email protected].

Banner Self Service is more than a place to go for timesheets!

The end of the year means open enrollment; a time to review our benefits and make changes if necessary. But it is also a great time to check on the information Human Resources has stored in Banner for us. Keeping up to date contact information is imperative in case an emergency arises. HR is teaming up with EH&S to strive to get all campus locations, cell phone numbers and emergency contacts up to date.

Banner Self Service is the place to go to not only review our benefits, dependents & beneficiaries, but also our address, phone and emergency contact information.

Some information can be updated right on-line such as dependents, beneficiaries and emergency contacts; addresses and phone numbers necessitate submitting a Personnel Data Form (located on Banner Self Service Address page).

If you have never reviewed your personal or benefit information in Self-Service, please see the PowerPoint or cheat sheet below for assistance. If you have any problems or have any questions, please feel free to contact me @2276 or [email protected].

After their heart-warming production of "Steel Magnolias" this spring, Valley Theatre returns to the Nancy Howe Auditorium with Neil Simon's classic comedy, "The Odd Couple," directed by Amanda Cox.

"The Odd Couple" (made famous by the movie starring Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon) is one of

(8)

Simon's most enduring and well known plays. With a script full of clever characters and zingy one- liners, it remains popular nearly 50 years after it first debuted on Broadway.

It tells the story of two friends, sloppy Oscar Madison and fussy Felix Unger, who are forced to move in together after their marriages crumble. The close quarters begin to test the limits of their friendship and put their unsuspecting neighbors and pals right in the middle of their domestic squabble. Oscar is portrayed by Nic Gunning and Felix's part is played by Mike Cox.

Tickets are $8 and available at the library. For information contact [email protected] or go online to facebook.com/valleytheatre.

(The show will also be performed at the Houghton Fire Hall the previous weekend, Nov. 13 and 14 at 7 p.m.)

Give a Lift! Office for the Aging Needs Volunteer Drivers

Driving gives most of us the freedom to go anywhere, at any time. Driving also gives us the freedom to do the simple, but necessary things such as going to the pharmacy, visiting the doctor, and going to the grocery store. But some older adults are not able to drive anymore.

The Allegany County Office for the Aging Volunteer Transportation Program helps people age 60 and older get to medical appointments, the grocery store, pharmacy, or bank. We need volunteer drivers in all areas of our county. Just a few hours of your time can make a world of difference to the person who is unable to drive anymore. Volunteers are reimbursed 50 cents a mile from their own home and back to their own home.

Office for the Aging provides an average of 95 rides a month. That is roughly two to five rides every day. A majority of the rides that we arrange take three hours or less to complete.

We need a large corps of volunteers to be able to provide rides to all our clients. As a volunteer, you choose the days and times that are convenient for you. Giving a lift to an older adult can make a big difference.

Call the Allegany County Office for the Aging and ask for Lynn Oyer for more details at 585.268.9390, or toll-free 1.866.268.9390.
