University Judicial Board and Peer Review Board Recruitment
We are currently recruiting students, faculty, and staff members to serve on our University Judicial Boards. Our judicial system is designed to hold students accountable for the Student of Conduct, change problematic behavior through a structured educational process, and protect the University community. The judicial system enables the campus community to take an active role in the judicial hearing process.
Board members need to posses strong interpersonal and communication skills, sound judgment, personal integrity, and demonstrate respect for others. Hearings are scheduled on an as needed basis.
Serving on a board depends on your schedule and availability.

NYS Park Police Recruiting
The NYS Park Police recruitment officer will be on campus Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008 to meet with students. PO Chris Booker will be in the Powell Campus Center, second floor outside the Book Store from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to provide information on NYS Park Police permanent and summer
opportunities.
The NYS Park Police have an upcoming entrance exam and applications will also be available at the information table.
All majors are welcome to stop by. Opportunities are located throughout the NYS Park system;
extending from Albany to the Niagara Frontier; Long Island to the Canadian border.
Park Patrol Officers utilize 4-wheel drive vehicles, motorcycles, snowmobiles and ATVs, mounted patrol, personal water craft and marine patrol.
* Current starting salary at SG-13 is $42,576, with advancement to SG-14 $44,633 at the completion of the first year.
* 13-24 vacation days per year
* 12 paid holidays

* 13 days paid sick leave per year

Do you feel like you can't keep up with school? Do you ever hand in assignments late or not at all, because you've forgotten about them? Do you just want some extra help learning to manage your time effectively? Then this workshop is for you!
There will be a Time Management Tutorial Workshop offered for all students.
The workshop will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 24 from 12:30-2 p.m. in the Seminar Room (106) of Herrick Library.

Get Your Tickets for 'The Runner Stumbles'
The Runner Stumbles is a suspenseful murder mystery/psychological drama lush with intrigue and intensity as it tells a compelling story centered on a smalltown parish priest and a nun who have to deal with the conflict between forbidden love and religious vows. The play is based on an actual early 1900s trial for the murder of a nun in a rural Michigan community.
The pay is directed by J. Stephen Crosby and runs Wednesday-Saturday, Oct. 1 - 4, 8 p.m., in the CD Smith III Theatre, Miller Performing Arts Center.

During the past week, we’ve received several great questions that we felt it would be helpful to answer these questions for everyone. So here goes:
1. Why is the link not working?: If your link to the contest is not working, cut and past this link www.usnews.com/youtubecon... www.usnews.com/youtubecon...> into your browser and it should work from there.
2. Can faculty members submit videos?: Yes, students, staff and faculty members are encouraged to submit videos for the contest.
3. When does the contest end?: Midnight, October 31, 2008
4. Does the entrant retain the rights to their work?: The applicant is free to reuse the video once it’s been submitted. However, by participating, each Entrant hereby grants U.S.News & World Report the right to use, copy, sublicense, transmit, distribute, publicly perform, publish, delete or display such Video, or any portion thereof, in any media.

Owens Corning Diversity Leadership Conference
The Career Development Center is pleased to announce applications are now being accepted for the 6th Annual Diversity Leadership Conference sponsored by Owens Corning.
Owens Corning, a global leader in the building materials and composites industries, is eager to identify students to participate in our Sixth Annual Diversity Leadership Conference. The purpose of the event is to provide an opportunity for talented young men and women to enhance their knowledge and understanding of leadership and corporate values through workshops and exercises.
The conference will take place Jan. 29 - 31, 2009, at the Owens Corning World Headquarters in Toledo, Ohio. Transportation, lodging, and training materials for each student will be provided.
Must have sophomore or junior standing; majoring in business or engineering.
Only 25 students from campuses throughout the United States will be accepted. The past few years
Alfred University has had 2-3 students attend this event.
It is a fantastic addition to any resume and all expenses are covered if you are accepted.

Applications due by Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008 with notifications completed early December 2008.

16th Annual Ridgewalk & Run - Sunday, Oct. 19
Did you know the highest ridge in Western New York is just a few miles from Alfred? Alma Hill (2,548') features some geological features and fauna seldom seen in New York State.
Wellsville's Ridgewalk & Run is one of the largest family oriented, participatory events in the region offering a palette of wellness choices. This versatile morning outdoors is geared to all fitness levels - from the novice to the experienced athlete.
Sunday, Oct. 19 Ridgewalk & Run will once again feature spectacular trail walks and competitive runs along linked parcels of private land open one day for public use. Ridgewalk & Run offers walking distances of 6, 9, or 14 miles, a casual 2-mile road walk; as well as competition for prizes and awards in the 5K, 10K, and 14 Mile Trail Runs.
All Ridgewalk events conclude at a horse farm four miles south of Wellsville. Busing provided to trail heads as well as to and from the finish line and registration.
Don't wait to sign up! Ridgewalk and Run will reach a 1,000 entry cap well in advance of event day.
