Outgoing UPS Packages

Effective Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, all outgoing UPS packages which have been processed at the Physical Plant should now be taken to the Powell Campus Center Mailroom for processing and shipping.

The process for outgoing Fedex packages has not changed and those can be taken to Office Services in Greene Hall.

2014-15 Tuition Exchange Application Deadline is Oct. 15, 2013.

Faculty and Staff - the Tuition Exchange Export Application deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013. If your child is planning to begin college (or transfer to another college) next year, 2014-15, you may wish to explore the schools participating in the Tuition Exchange (TE) Program.

RENEWAL TE Export applications are also subject to the deadline of 10/15/13.

Please read the attached TE Information Memo for application procedures and details on the program.

Two application forms are required; specifically, the AU TE Export Application and the AU Human Resource (HR) TR/TE form (links and attachments, herewith).

2012-13 Annual Campus Safety & Fire Report Now Available

The Alfred University 2012-13 Annual Campus Safety & Fire Report is now available. This report is required by federal law and contains policy statements and crime statistics for our school.

The policy statements address Alfred's policies, procedures and programs concerning safety and security, for example, policies for responding to emergency situations and sexual offenses.

Three years' worth of statistics are included for certain types of crimes that were reported to have occurred on campus, in or on off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the school and on public property within or immediately adjacent to the campus.

This report is also available online at the bottom of the Student Policies page

(http://my.alfred.edu/inde...). You may also request a paper copy from the Office of Public Safety or Dean of Student's Office.

Special Seminar Presentation

Dr. Narendra B. Dahotre, a current Inamori faculty candidate, will be presenting on "Laser Surface Engineering: Efficient Processing and Materials Performance" on Tuesday, Oct.r 1 in Binns-Merrill Hall, room 106 at 9:20 a.m.

Dr. Dahotre is a distinguished research professor and chairman in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of North Texas.

The Kanakadea Yearbook is in serious need of staff members! If you'd like to see YOUR yearbook published this year, please consider contributing your talents!

All are welcome; we're looking for students to contribute to graphic design and layout, photography, writing, and general editing. No experience necessary!

Meetings are held on Mondays at 7 p.m. in the CSI Suite.

Come show Alfred your talent! The Brick and Kruson Staff will be hosting a talent show in Nevin's Theater on Thursday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m. There is a six-minute time slot and there will be judges which means PRIZES!

This is a chance to show Alfred University your talents!

The admission is free so either participate or come out and support the faculty and student body.

The Engineering Career Fair, sponsored by World Kitchen, PPG & Corning Inc., is taking place Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013 from noon-3 p.m. in the Powell Campus Center Knight Club.

October is breast cancer awareness month. Now on sale "KEEP SECOND BASE SAFE" pink tees sponsored by Alfred University Passionately Pink for a Cure. Tees are $10. All proceeds go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Tees will be on sale daily in Ade from noon-1 p.m. and in the Powell Campus Center at the AU Bookstore. Watch for our schedule of PINK events!

Join us for Kickin' It Up for the Cure" from 6-9 p.m. Friday in McLane Center. The third annual Zumbathon event kicks off Alfred University's Passionately Pink campaign to raise money for breast cancer awareness and research. Eight instructors, DJ, lights, and lots of fun. No experience necessary.

Just come to have fun. Advance tickets are $10 for adults, and are available at the bookstore. At the door, adult tickets will be $15. Student tickets are $5 each, in advance or at the door.

Phi Alpha Theta, the history honor society on campus, is currently working on publishing its second edition of its journal, The Kanakadea Review.

We are now accepting paper submissions from students and faculty. All papers must be historically related and have recieved a B+ or higher. Papers not graded are subject to review.

The deadline for all submissions is Friday, Nov. 1.

Kickin' It Up for the Cure! Join us Friday night, Oct. 4, from 6-9 p.m. at the McLane Center gymnasium for the third annual Passionately Pink Zumbathon. Eight instructors will show us the moves during three hours of fun and fitness. No experience necessary! All proceeds will benefit breast cancer awareness.
