ACADEMIC REGULATIONS A. Class Attendance

If the committee's decision is a suspension, the president of the university must be notified before the decision is announced or takes effect. The Vice President of Student Affairs will inform parents of the committee's actions by letter. The penalty for the first violation will be determined by the instructor, who will report it in writing to the department chair and the academic dean.
Penalties for a first offense can vary from failing the exam in question to failing the course. The penalty for any other offense will normally be either suspension or dismissal from the University, at the discretion of the Student Conduct Committee (see Procedures, 1).
THE STUDENT AND THE LAW The University's Attitude

Suspension (for a specific or indefinite period) 5. The Student Conduct Committee has introduced a points system to increase the available options and more fairly assign punishments for violations of the University's regulations.
The points may be awarded as part of the penalties normally given by organizations designed to enforce university regulations. At any hearing by any of the above groups, the number of points a student has already assessed will not become part of the record until the facts of the specific allegation have been established.

Policies
Students are both citizens of the larger (or political) community and members of the campus (or academic) community. Each member of the academic community has both rights and responsibilities arising from the goals of that community. Members of the academic community must avoid interfering with the freedom of movement or speech of any individual or group.
Members of the academic community may not use or threaten physical violence, physical intimidation or physical obstacles. Members of the academic community should avoid speech acts that could provoke or encourage physical violence through demonstrations. After appealing to his designated UN President, his judgment will be final.

University Government
MEMBERSHIP
The committee shall consist of two students from the College of Liberal Arts; one from the School of Nursin~ j and two from the College of Ceramics, one of which shall be in the Ceramic Art Department; the university's ombudsman; and two faculty members chosen from a pool of six faculty members selected by the faculty. The ombudsman selects and notifies the faculty member from the pool who will serve at that session. The following organizations: A WS, IFC, ISC, Gold Key, Blue Kt'y, Men's Dorm Council, \Vomen '8 DOi'm Conncil, vmd Assembly shall each select a maximum of five nomlIH"ts for the committee positions.
The nominated mayors must not be members of the organization that elects them, at the discretion of the organization. Once the nominations are completed, the names must be forwarded to a review committee composed of the head of the !!following eight organizations, which will determine which committee student member. , bership.

RESIDENCE HALLS
All students living in the University residence halls must recognize that successful group life can only be achieved through the collective effort of every member of the group. A copy of the residence hall rules and regulations will be provided to each student upon arrival at the dormitory. A chief resident is in charge of each student room to help the room's residents gain a valuable experience during student life.
It is recommended that you have a written agreement between you and the landlord when renting an apartment. Carefully review your agreement with your landlord in writing regarding any rebate provisions you should receive upon termination. Holiday public transport links These links include Rochester Airport and the bus station in Andover, New York.
Information about bus and airline schedules is available from the Director of Student Activity Office in Rogers Campus Center. Transportation within a certain radius of campus for various student activities such as: academic programs, sporting events, cultural programs and other extracurricular activities.
Information
Most books on open shelves can be taken out for two weeks, with the privilege of extension. Reset've Books can be used in the OhTLY Library, except at night, when they can be charged one to half an hour before closing time. Reserve books returned late will be charged a late fee of twenty-five cents for the first hour and ten cents for each additional hour or portion thereof.
Fines not paid on Open Shelf or Reserve books at the time of retul'il will incur a twenty-five cents processing fee, which will be added to the amount of the fine. At the end of each semester, unpaid bills (for fines and/or lost books) are sent to the treasurer. The State University of New York College of Ceramics Library, located on the second floor of Binns-Merrill Hall, is a reference library.
The library subscribes to 1075 periodical titles, and more than 48,000 ceramic science, engineering design and fine art volumes are available. Although the books are mainly of interest to the students and staff of the Ceramic College, anyone on the college campus is welcome to use the library facilities during the following hours; Monday -, Friday, 8 am.
Organizations
Smaller 'vocal groups are drawn from the Alfred University Singers to perform as individual units when the occasions arise. The Alfred University Chorale, an a capella group of twenty voices, was organized in 1965 and is currently active. Opportunities to tour, broadcast, broadcast and record are offered to the Alfred University Singers and its affiliates.
In addition to formal concerts of its own, the orchestra will participate in the performance of choral works with the Alfred University Singers. The Alfred University Student Nurses Association is composed of students in the School of Nmsing, and is directly under the auspices of Area 2 of the Student Nurses Association of New York State. The purpose of this club is to sponsor and encourage the game of badminton at Alfred University.
Membership is by invitation of the association and is open to men and women with a cumulative index of 2.25 or better whose contributions to the Alfred University com. Elections are held in the spring of the year and prospective members are selected by the faculty members belonging to Phi Beta Kappa and Eta .Mu Alpha.
Athletics
Psi Chi is a division of the national honorary psychology society and is the student branch affiliated with the American Psychological Association. To be eligible for membership, an undergraduate student must achieve an index of 3.3 or higher in all psychology courses and complete a 3.0 in other scholastic areas with at least eight semester hours of psychology courses. Graduate students must have an index of 3.5 or better in all graduate courses including psychology. b.) Alfred University will comply with all the rules and regulations as set forth in the constitution of the National Collegiate Athletio Assoeiation and the Eastern College Athletic Conference. c.) ]i'reshman a11:) qualifies to compete on a varsity team, at the discretion of the coach of the sport.
No body of students more than four in number (two ill basketball) shall participate in off-campus contests unless approved by the Athletic Governing Board. Please note; Permission can be granted in certain cases by the Director of Athletics provided a faculty representative is in charge of the group. Jackets will be awarded to women who have earned their Silver Key, and who are outstanding in leadership, ability and personality.
To qualify for this, seniors must have received a blazer, and must be the most prominent of the blazer-wearing senior women. 34;"Students who have been on campus for only two years and who have accumulated 50 points will receive the Silver Alfred Key in their senior year; those who have accumulated 125 points will receive the Gold Alfred Key.).
