ON THE STUDENTS' WRITING HORTARIUM EXHIBITION PERFORMANCE AT THE ELEVENTH GRADE OF SMA MUHAMMADIYAH 2 METRO. In this study, the researcher examined the eleventh class of SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Metro in the academic year 2015/2016, which consists of 196 students divided into seven classes. It means that the population is the only subject assumed in this study. The population in this study is the eleventh grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Metro in the academic year 2015/2016.

Using cluster purposive sampling, the researcher takes the class XI IPA 2 in the eleventh grade of SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Metro in the academic year 2015/2016. The researcher used the non-probability sampling technique, namely cluster purposive sampling, as a sampling technique that was based on previous knowledge of a population and the specific purpose of the research.

The researcher chose XI IPA 2 as experimental class because of their low score in writing based on the presurvey test. Furthermore, based on the explanation above, the researcher in this research used the fishbone strategy to conduct a treatment for the students in the eleventh grade of SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Metro in Academic Year 2015/2016. Herringbone strategy can increase the student's writing performance, if the students can organize to develop an idea, the students have a good vocabulary, the students can arrange a good sentence, a good mechanics.

In this way, students can build a good text based on the writing indicator. So, the performance indicator of horticultural expository writing in this research is that the researcher gives students a pre-test and post-test to write about imperative expository.

The post-test was taken in the last meeting after treatments were done to find out if the treatments make any contribution to the students' performance in class or not. The researcher used the method to get the data about student's activities such as students' understanding in question answer, students'. The researcher used the documentation method to support and obtain the detail information about the history of SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Metro, the number of teacher, official employer and organizational structure.

This method is also used to collect valid pre- and post-test writing performance data.

The researcher used the same type of pretest and posttest instrument for the control and the experiment. It can be concluded that the instrument calibration is the measuring scale that was used to decide the action in this research done by the researcher. In this research, the researcher used logical validity in the form of content validity.

The researcher will compose the instrument based on the subject content that will be researched. The content validity used to make it easy for the researcher to determine the students' writing performance like high, fair, low and others.

The table above shows that students who scored above 70 passed the test, 27 of them or 90%. From the above value, it can be concluded that there is a positive and significant impact of using the Fishbone strategy on students' performance in writing instructions in the eleventh grade of SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Metro in the academic year 2015/2016. Its benefit was to know the effect of using the Fishbone strategy on students' performance in writing directive explanations from the results of these tests, the results of these students were different.

The researcher formulated an alternative hypothesis (Ha) such as: “There is a positive and significant effect of using the fishbone strategy on students' performance in writing instructions in the eleventh grade of SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Metro in the academic year. This means that there was a positive and significant impact of using the Fishbone strategy on students' performance in writing a hortatory treatise in the eleventh grade of SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Metro in the academic year 2015/2016.

Discussion

The researcher recommended this strategy to the teacher so that the fishbone strategy can be a strategy in learning to write. Thus, it has proven that using fishbone strategy can be used as an alternative strategy in writing. Before the study, the researcher conducted a pre-test to find out the basic performance of the students before the treatment.

The result indicated that the students' performance in writing short expositions improved after being taught using Fishbone Strategy. Referring to all the above findings, it can be concluded that by applying Fishbone Strategy, the students can more easily build a hortoire text.
