INTRODUCTION

Research Question

This means that the use of song was effective in improving students' understanding of simple past tense in first-year students at SMKN 3 Selayar Island Regency. The research results consisted of the answer to the research question, which was formulated in the first chapter. Based on Figure 4.13 shows the accumulation of the condition of the item after answered by the students.

This part also presents the data analysis of the respondents to find out the description of the students' abilities. These sections were to find out the answer to the research question mentioned in the first chapter, which asked about the grammatical abilities of the students.

It is a situation that can occur in the present and will occur in the future, but with some future end in view. Simply put, simple future tenses are tenses with future meaning and will happen in the future. Especially in the context of English teaching in Indonesia, the teaching of grammar should be integrated into the development of the four language skills.

A copula is a form of the verb to be (am, is, are, was, are), for example the sentence Jane is a doctor. Discourse analysis is based on details of speech (and look, gesture and action) or writing that are arguably considered relevant in context and that are relevant to the arguments one is trying to make. Based on figure 4.3, where 24 (48%) students had high ability category for the question of simple presence, 14 (38%) students who had medium ability category to answer the test of simple present, and 7 (14%) students had a low ability category for answering tests of simple presence. Based on Figure 4.4, there were 7 students for high ability to answer the test referred to the simple tense, which scored 1.96 logit, and it was there. Based on Figure 4.8, there were 3 students for the highest ability to answer the test referred to the simple time, which scored 2.73 logit, and.

The result of the data explained above was the result of the students answered who were categorized for students who had a lot of ability in certain number, it indicated that students had a lot of ability to master present for m, the result of the person map shows the students' ability that identified the number of 46.6% in difficult items, these difficult items show that students had a lot of ability in their grammar for present tense. The result of the study related to the past form identifying that the student had problems matching the form of the subject with the word that happened in the past, the time signal caused many wrong positions on students who answered versus the test distribution.

Another ability demonstrated by the subsentence of the test: several test items consist of the former form, to which students usually received a wrong answer. They cannot distinguish the form of past and perfect sentences. The result was that students gained proficiency in a range of four to six skills. This could be seen from the result of the study, which really had many skills in number. The past form should be easy for students because it contains a clear past form. even the time signal also clearly indicated the time. The result of the finding was the students' score, which identifies the students' grammatical skills regarding the future form, it is also called "future happened", which happened at will in the future, usually the students were given the ability to identify the word that should be future or not, the time signal is the future form, but some tests showed that something else happened or acted.

These are all the results that are valid for the result of the research which summarizes that students can still find it very difficult to answer grammar test, moreover for tests of present, past and future form, it really indicates that students should be more active learn to focus on mastering grammar material at class. It is found that dominant categories know specifically about the aspect that the respondent mostly experiences towards their phenomena, the categories of grammatical ability under the aspect referred to the previous form, it becomes the dominant ability that showed presentation of 53% which proves is because of the difficulty items answered by the students. Through this finding, the researcher believes that students' abilities are mainly caused in past form, that students cannot really understand the time signal of the past form, that the word of the time signal must be mastered by students in order to identify the past form .

Another ability s identified from the past also forms the cause of the general statement; the students don't know that, past form must be followed by statement form. The explanation above all about the state of the students' grammatical ability which referred to the present, past and future for m which found dominant form for singular past tense. Based on the findings and the result of the data analysis in the previous chapter, the conclusion can be made as follows: Students' Grammatical Ability can be identified by grammatical test which becomes a tool of this research, the ability is divided into present, past and future form, which showed that students with many abilities had four to six abilities in number, this indicated that students had a lot of ability to master present form, while past form identifying that student had difficulties in mastering the form of subject to match the word that happened in the past tense, ability s causes the time signal to answer very incorrectly and the students grammatical ability refers to the future form, it is also called future happening.
