Problem Statement

Objectives of the research

Significance of the research

Then the teacher can use the best strategy to control the extroverted and introverted students. It is important to develop some of the theories used in this research in order to understand certain concepts.

This chapter deals with the review of related literature. It is important to expand some theories, which are used in this research, to have an understanding of certain concepts. There were many related theories as the basis of the research. 2.1 Some relevant ideas 2.1.1 The concept of speaking. whole body.2 Therefore it is not only about what we say, but everything we do and people understand what we say, speak. Speaking consists of producing systematic verbal utterance to convey meaning. utterance is simply something that people say). Based on the explanation above, the researcher concludes that speaking is the main skill among the other skills. Vocabulary is the key to success in communicating the idea, thought, imagination and others to another person.

Bailey and Nunan, Practical English Language Teaching: Speaking (New York: The McGraw Hill Companies, 2005), p. According to Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary, fluency is the quality of being able to speak or write a language, especially a foreign language, easily and well. Getting the message itself clearly and accurately understood is the central focus, rather than the participants and how they interact socially with each other.

Interversion, according to Jung, is the inward turning of psychic energy with an orientation towards the subjective. In addition, Dornyei suggests that "the introvert is passive, quiet, reserved, drawn-out, level-headed, a booty, and restrained16." It means that introvert is a type of student who likes silence. Unlike introversion, extroversion is the attitude characterized by turning psychic energy outward so that a person is focused on the objective and away from the subjective.

The same goes for the personality of the foreign students with different backgrounds. By teaching English as a foreign language to the students, teachers can try to understand their personality. This section deals with the description of the study design, the study design, the study variable and operational definition, the instrument of the study, the data collection procedure and the technique of data analysis.

22 III. CHAPTER RESEARCH METHOD RESEARCH METHOD. This section covers the description of research design, research setting, research variable and operational definition, research instrument, data collection procedure and data analysis technique. Source: Administration of SMP Negeri 2 Parepare). As a result, the researcher selected 40 students from different second grade classes at SMPN 2 Parepare who have good score in English. When choosing the sample, the researcher consulted with the English teacher to take the data on the scores of the students in the English subject as the sample.

The Instrument of the research

Procedure of Collecting Data

Technique of Data Analysis

To know and compare the score of the introverted and the extroverted students based on their speaking ability, the data was analyzed by analyzing descriptive statistics. In this research, the researcher used SPSS (Comparative Test Of 2 Independent Samples by Mann Whitney) program. This program is one of the computer application programs designed to analyze the statistical data.2.

This chapter consists of two parts, namely the research finding and the discussion of the research. The finding of the study includes the description of the result of data collected through a test which can be discussed in the section below.

Findings

If more yes than no, it means that the students are introverted, otherwise, if more no than yes, it means that the students are extroverted.1. 1Susan Horowitz Chain, The Power of Introverts in a Word that can't Stop Talking (United State: Crown Publishers, 2012), p. 21 VIII.3 Muthia Lathifa Ibrahim 9 11 Extroverted. 27 VIII.9 Raja Afraddiaz Irluvni Duse 12 8 Introvert. 35 VIII.8 Widya Warapsari Mansyur 13 7 Introvert. Source: the students' eighth grade at SMPN 2 Parepare). The researcher obtains the extroverted and introverted students' speaking scores based on four components of speaking proficiency (pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, fluency) using David P's scale rating score. Source: the students' eighth grade at SMPN 2 Parepare). Based on the table above, the minimum total score was obtained by 11th response with 8 total score and the maximum total score 17th,22nd,27th. with a total score of 17. However, the overall students' performance was 13.33 as an average for their speaking ability, which meant that all students' quality is good. No classification score value frequency. The data in the table above showed that in the introvert of the students, there were 3 students who got Excellent, 14 got good score, 9 students got Fair score, 1 student got bad score and none of the students got very bad. Table 4.4 Numerical scores of extroverted personality students. Source: the students' eighth grade at SMPN 2 Parepare).

Based on the table above, the minimum total score was achieved by the 12th answer with 9 total points and the maximum maximum score of 11th with 17 total points. However, the students' overall achievement was 14.07 as an average for their speaking ability, which meant that the quality of all students is good. The data in the above table showed that in introvert students there was 1 student got excellent, 10 got good result, 3 students got fair result, no student.

From the above data, we can conclude that the average score of introverted students is 19.63 and extroverted students is 22.31. According to the results of the above tables, it can be seen that extroverted students are better than introverted students in speaking ability (H1 accepted).

Discussion

And from the basic of determine the result of Mann Whitney This showed Asymp.Sig > 0.05, so the hypothesis accepted, it can answer this second research question which is to know, the extroverted students get better speaking results than introverted students in speaking ability . Referring to The Computation, the percentage of students exhibiting each dimension of student personality from the highest to the lowest; they are introverted personality dimension 67.5%, extroverted dimension of personality 32.2%. Based on the experience the researcher conducted before, the researcher also made a note based on the behavior of the students in the class.

The extroverted students work best in classrooms that allow time for discussion, talking or working with a group. Because they are action-oriented, extroverted students do well with activities that involve some type of physical activity. A few of the introverted students appeared to have better pronunciation than the extroverted students and they were more fluent in speaking, so they could convey ideas accurately and naturally, also speaking without excessive pauses.

The implication of understanding the personality of the students in the classroom will help the students to deal effectively with the classroom situation that does not match the students' learning style. The extroverted students excel at learning activities that produce visible results and involve interaction between people. By understanding the personality of students, adapting the learning style of the students and facilitating the ideal classroom situation of the students, these three requirements will help both the teacher and the students to achieve success in language learning.

Conclusions

Suggestions

For further research, the author suggests conducting about what kind of task should be used to improve students' speaking ability. The author also suggests conducting another study by examining the other factors of individual student differences (age and affective filter) and students' learning style or strategy. 5 Minds for the Future in Dyah Sri Wulandari, Extrovert and Introvert Students in Speaking Skills in English Department at IAIN Palangka Raya, Unpublished Dissertation of IAIN Palangka Raya, 2017.
