CONVENTION MINUTES

All the organizations of the Church seem to be working beautifully, with great interest showing up and we are moving forward. 34; But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, gentleness, prudence." The women's session of the Convention was chaired by the aforementioned society, Mrs.

After the amalgamation of Bethany Church, Brother Humphreys, finding his time so encumbered with increased duties, resigned as Executive Secretary and presented his resignation to the Board of Directors, who filled the office by election until the end of the year. The minutes of the committee will show who was chosen to succeed each of the brothers who resigned. Brother Humphreys also resigned as a member of the Missionary Co-operation Committee, but your President did not accept him, as he felt that the pastor of the Delaware Avenue-Bethany Church should be a member of that committee.

Bethany's merger with Delaware Avenue left some of Bethany's former members unwilling to participate in the merger, and after the merger was completed, several of them met and. Borton, the Missionary Director of this Convention, received them with their petition signed by twenty-two persons requesting the use of the Polish Mission building as a meeting place, offering to pay a rent as agreed for the use it. I have been informed by our director of missions that despite the financial depression the churches have maintained their mission contributions and we are not far behind the amount reported last year but our treasurer also informs me that he has about $600 less this year received than before.

It may 'be of interest to you, as it has been to me, to learn what progress has been made since the beginning of the present century, if indeed we have made any. In the report of this committee, made a year ago, reference was made to the use of the proceeds of this fund to equip the library of the new Howard High School in Wilmington. This completes the layout of the Howard High School Library, to the extent that current space in that library permits.

The rest of the income was allowed to accumulate, as detailed in Treawrer's report. Their cooperation in the use of the building is most satisfactory for all concerned. Russell representing the first six months of the missionary year and the local director for the remaining six months.

Of course, it is sincerely hoped that a greater number of churches will be able to match or exceed their quotas for the coming year. We are not reliably informed that the total income collected throughout the Northern Baptist Convention represented 87 percent for the year just closed of the amount collected for the previous year.

REPORT OF BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The expenses for the Polish Mission have been alleviated somewhat by an arrangement whereby the Elm Street Mission, since January 1, 1932, pays $30.00 a month for the use of that building in exchange for the use of the Polish Meetinghouse. At a meeting on April 29, a communication was received from the Board of Missionary Co-operation stating that since the services of the current supply to the Holloway Terrace Mission were to end on May 31, 1932, that the Board of Missionary Co-operation would arranging supplies for the Holloway Terrace Mission. The action of the 1931 Convention authorizing the Trnstees to sell the vacant lot at 27th and Jefferson Street, Wilmington, Del., belonging to the Convention, was carried out by the Board of Trustees and the sale of that property good to Clarence E.

In the settlement, Yost assumed the covenant obligation of two mortgages covering said property valued at $6,000; gave the convention a new mortgage of $3,000 on the greater part of the property at 27th and Jefferson streets, and as the balance of the settlement gave his personal mortgage of $1,000 on the property at no. The acceptance of the above settlement agreement was agreed to by the Board of Directors, as it did not appear that any monetary proceeds could be obtained. Humphreys fclt asked to tender his resignation as a member of the Board of Trustees and also as Executive Secretary of the Convention; then Edward H.

Larson, pastor of the Church of Sweden, was elected to the board to fill the unexpired term of Mr. Davis, and of the Hamilton Park People's Church was chosen to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of J. WHEREAS, a resolution was passed at the 1931 convention on the disposal of property at 27th and Jefferson streets in the city of Wilmington, providing that all proceeds should , received in addition to the encumbrances of the property, to be kept for the purpose of applying to the purchase of some other property suitable for a church in the Ninth 'Nard of Wilmington; and.

THERE IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY that it is considered desirable by the representatives of the Convention that this restriction be removed; be it therefore. Resolved, That proceeds heretofore received as a result of the sale of the property at 27th and Jefferson Streets, and which may hereafter be received in payment of obligations of the purchaser thereof, be subject to the control and unrestricted disposition of members of the Board of Directors of the Convention. Resohled (a), That we send hearty thanks to the pastor and members of the Second Baptist Church for their generous hospitality.

He asked for patience until a better understanding of Japan's purposes and motives in their efforts to preserve their national life. After Young declined the office of director of missions, the selection of another for that office was referred to the board. The first affair, outside of the cabinet meetings, was the meeting at the Second Baptist Church.

DELAWARE YOUNG BAPTIST FELLOWSHIP Following the organization, on June 5, as recorded in the 1931 annual minutes and the subsequent passing of the minutes, the Cabinet resumed leadership by regular meetings. In several cabinet meetings during late November and into December, the Cabinet began formulating a Constitution, although nothing final was done until January 8, at a cabinet meeting, where it was unanimously approved by representatives and all members present. of the cabinet. Upon his presentation to the entire youth group at the next meeting at Delaware Avenue- Bethany Church on February 29, 1932, he was unanimously approved.
