Objective and Benefit of the Study

For the teacher, this research is supposed to provide information and knowledge about reading performance. For the student, after knowing the result of the study, it is expected that the students can get motivation and knowledge about new information from the text.

According to the second research conducted in 2011 by Yousif Alshumaimeri from King Saud University, Saudi Arabia entitled "Effects of Reading Method on the Comprehension Performance of Saudi EFL Students", the result describes the relative effects of different reading methods on understanding performance of Saudi Arabia. Male 10th grade EFL learners. According to Jane, reading is the process of understanding the twenty-six squiggles or the alphabet. In addition, reading is the process of thinking involved in understanding an author's messages, combining those messages with what you already know, and managing all the messages so that you are able to consider and t 'you use them.4 Therefore reading is a complex process it makes sense that it is not as simple as determining the black marks on a page.

As Peter and Margaret suggested reading is much more than decoding black a's on a page. Reading is nevertheless a step to produce meaning, it is essential to begin to expand for the impetus that drives this step and prompts a reader to start a conversation with a text.6 Consequently, reading requires not only the objective and goal-achieving procedure. to face the context of depending on the situation, not only apparatus parameters but also thrust. Based on the quotes above, reading is a complex process that makes sense, which is the decoding of blacks and signs on a page.

In addition, the goal of reading is for students to become active learners in reading and independent learners who are able to set and realize reading and study goals. 7 Therefore, the goal of reading is not only to make the student active, but also to fully involve the student in the reading process. The goals of the preview are to get students (a) interested and excited about what they are about to read; (b) motivate their background knowledge, previous experiences and vocabulary related to what they will read; and (c) provide an opportunity to generate hypotheses about what they will read and predictions about what they will learn.8 Thus, based on the source above, the goal of reading is to motivate and activate students' desire for what they are. reading and basic knowledge. Based on the quote above, the goal of reading is to activate the student and fully involve him in the learning process of teaching and motivate his basic knowledge.

It is reading for oneself.10 In other words, silent reading is being read without the voice being heard and in the state being read with oneself. In other words, reading aloud makes it easy for the researcher to recognize the student's ability in reading comprehension performance by looking at pronunciation, intonation, and. Additionally, the researcher will use the concept of reading aloud to analyze and describe for the research.

In fact, reading aloud is the reappearance of all the original content of idea, feeling, attitude and style in the form of voice. As claimed by Appleton that pronunciation is the act of giving the correct sound of letters in words, and the correct accent and number of syllables.20 It would be better to say, pronunciation is action of giving the correct sound of the letters in words give and the correct accent and number of syllables. From the some definitions, the researcher concludes that pronunciation is the way of producing sound using speech organ (mouth) and the action of giving the correct sound of the letters in words and the correct accent and amount of syllables ; it is included through articulation and accent.

Stanford claims that fluency in silent reading is the ability to read with sustained attention and concentration, ease and comfort, at Based on the above quote, the researcher concludes that fluency is the reading ability to speak and express oneself easily and well-formulated to be backed up by concentration, more attention and good understanding.

RESEARCH METHOD

  • Data Source
  • Data Collecting Technique
  • Data Analysis Technique
  • Approach

The researcher wants to deeply review a series on the ability of students to achieve a particular result in reading performance. Based on the above explanations, the researcher decides to use qualitative research to analyze students' ability in reading performance in MA Roudlatul Huda Al Islami. In this step the researcher would observe the teaching learning process using the observation format, and the observation outlines in this step such as preparing for the material in the form of reading the text and then asking the students to read the text prepared by .. the researcher to analyze the students' ability in reading performance.

Then the researcher will take data from English teacher, history of Ma Roudlatul Huda Al Islami and data results from the students. The researcher will apply the Miles and Huberman model to examine the obtained data in this study. In this step, the researcher collected and selected some stories as the main object of research.

The researcher would create the longer piece of text or image or diagram to make it available to the students. From now on, the researcher would use the chart or diagram, the representation should be suitable for describing the content of data recording. The researcher would take the result of the analysis data and conclude the data from the study.

Through this research, the researcher gives information to the English teacher what kind of students' mistakes in reading performance. Quantitative research requires the researcher to definitely use statistical formulas to analyze data collected. In line with that, the researcher collected a lot of data which is very necessary for this research.

The researcher got the admission from the students of MA Raudlatul Huda Al Islami about 5 students. Here is the data collection of students' reading performance collected by the researcher. Out of the 5 students taken from 1 class, the researcher found that the researcher found that common errors in reading performance are.

RESULT AND DISCUSSION

Description of Analysis Data

Pronunciation: Student 3 reads well using words and intonation, but there are some errors. Fluent: student 3 reads fluently with one obstacle in the first sentence; she does not read fluently 10.3. student 4 read with a word and intonation error. Data reduction means that the researcher selects the most important parts of the essence from all the data he has obtained by summarizing and concluding certain things.

Student 1 read the word passengers, beside the truck, police, five people, and is not fluent. The result of this analysis describes the fact that there are some errors in reading. Based on the results of data analysis in the collection of this research on the use of reading performance in the tenth grade of MA Raudlatul Huda Al Islami Negeri Katon in the academic year 2013/2014, the use of reading performance is good enough.

However, students made more spelling errors in some words (such as were, killed, bus, truck.. Car, 10.30, night, dead and many others) than other skills, namely fluency (with some words like passengers, from the truck, the police, five people, and not). The teacher should pronounce well in front of the students in order to create better reading performance for the students. The teacher must clearly explain the skill to make the students understand about the mastery.

That the teacher should provide support and some tasks for the students to make the students active.
