Biotropika: Journal of Tropical Biology is a scientific journal published by Biology Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Brawijaya established since 2013. Biotropika: Journal of Tropical Biology is a peer-reviewed journal that strives to provide scientific information on the research results whichfocused on biological science in tropical regions including biotechnology, biodiversity, microbiology and environmental sciences.Biotropika: Journal of Tropical Biology publishes three issues each year.

PREFACE

All of our gratitude goes to Almighty God because of His blessed, Biotropika: Journal ofTropical Biology publishes scientific writing which are the results of research from academicsin Indonesia. In this edition, Biotropika: Journal of Tropical Biology presents various research results that include the utilization of resources and technology for provide solutions. One of the articles presented in English give an overview about the biodiversity of lichens in Tahura forest, East Java.

The contents of this edition begins with screening and identification of pectinolytic bacteria in digestive insect (Hypothenemus hampei Ferr) which has a high tolerance to environment with high content of caffeine, tannins, and polyphenols. Molecular identification based on DNA barcode was carried out on introduced fish in Telaga Sari, Pasuruan regency for conservation and aquaculture. The research result reported that there is a biodiversity of haplotype divided into 9 haplotypes with 4 haplograms. The biodiversity study also carried out in Tahura forest of Raden Soeryo, Batu, Malang which has reported 11 species of lichens with fruticose type based on morphological, anatomical and chemical test. In another area, research about identification of trees diameter distribution in Womnowi, Sidey, Manokwari, West Papua with aims to determine of age and forest regeneration. The habitat preferenceshave effect to regeneration rate and distribution of tree diameter sizes. The effect of tilapia feed through bioencapsulation of Artemiasalina with Spirulina platensiswas able to increase of juvenile survival rates from the attack of pathogenic bacteria (Streptococcussp). The research of biological performance of milkfish was reported to have good performance and resistance that supports of domestication and aquaculture development in fishpond.

The publication of this edition is also a hard work and the attention of many parties, therefore the Editorial team thank the reviewerswho willing to provide inputs and criticisms for improving the writingquality. Journal of Tropical Biology kembali menerbitkan tulisan-tulisan ilmiah yang merupakan hasil penelitian dari para akademisi di Indonesia. Pada edisi ini, Biotropika: Journal of Tropical Biology menyajikan berbagai hasil penelitian yang meliputi pendaya gunaan sumber daya dan teknologi dalam memberikan solusi atas permasalahan yang dihadapi.

Satutulisandisajikandalam Bahasa Inggris yang memberikan gambaran mengenai

Kajian biodiversitas juga dilakukan di Taman Hutan Raya (Tahura) Raden Soeryo, Batu, Malang yang melaporkan terdapat biodiversitas liken tipe fruticose sebanyak 11 spesies berdasarkan karakter morfologi, anatomi dan uji kimia. Di wilayah lain, penelitian identifikasi sebaran ukuran diameter pohon di lahan bera Womnowi Sidey Manokwari Papua Barat dengan tujuan untuk menentukan umur dan regenerasi hutan sehingga diketahui bahwa preferensi habitat jenis tumbuhan berperan dalam daya regenerasi dan mempengaruhi sebaran ukuran diameter pohon. Pengaruh manipulasi pakan ikan nila melalui teknik bioenkapsulasi Artemiasalina dengan Spirulina platensis mampu meningkatkan sintasan kelangsungan hidup benih ikan nila dari serangan bakteri pathogen penyebab streptococcosis. Penelitian performasi biologis induk bandeng hasil seleksi dilaporkan memiliki performansi yang baik dan memiliki ketahanan terhadap penyakit sehingga mendukung domesticasi dan pengembangan budidaya di tambak.

Penerbitan edisi ini juga atas kerja keras dan perhatian banyak pihak, oleh karena itu redaksi Biotropika: Journal of Tropical Biology mengucapkan terima kasih kepada para mitrabestari yang berkenan memberikan masukanan kritik untuk peningkatan kualitas tulisan. Para anggota redaksi yang telah meluangkan waktunya agar edisi ini dapat terbit dengan baik.
