GOVERNING COMMITTEE OF THE FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA Washington,

April 1, 1953

The Governing Committee of the FUture Farmers of .America was called to order by W. T. Spanton, Chairman, in Room 4282, Federal Security

Building. Those present were: E. J. Johnson, and R. B •. Naugher, committee members, and A.

w.

Tenney, Secretary.

The Governing Committee met to make a final decision in connection with the manufacture of F'FA jackets. The bid submitted by the Holt Company, Waco, Texas, and the bids previously received from the Universal Uniform Company and the Ringer St. Croix Pompany were reviewed and compared,

.After considerable discussion . and consideration, it was ·moved by Mr. Naugher, seconded by Mr. Johnson and passed that no new companies be

authorized this year to manufacture FFA Jackets; but that every effort be made to obtain additional bids so that a decision may be made in January of 1954 or earlier, if possible, concerning the granting of a contract or contracts on a three to five-year pasis for the manufacture of jackets as authorized by the Board of Directors.

Tenney, Secretary. Also present were 'John Farrar, Lano Barron, H. N. Hansucker, and H. B. Swanson.

The meeting was called for the purpose of reviewing the financial status of The National.FUTURE FARMER. Mr. Lano Barron,, &iitor, gave a report to the comnrl. ttee •·

It was moved by E. J. Johnson, seconded by R. E. Naugher and passed·

· that the committee authorize The National Treasurer·of the FF.A to advance

$9,500 to. The N atiorial FUTURE FARMER magazine to provide adequate finances through June

30.

.It was moved by Johnson, seconded by Naugher and carried that after July 1 a check, in the amount of $5,0001 be sent to The National FUTURE FARMER to provide finances for operation until the July meeting ef t~

National Board of Directors and Board of Student Officers.

The Governing Committee recomnended to Mr. Barron that a budget for The National FUTURE FARMER be prepared for the year 1954 to submit to the National Board of Student Officers and National Board of Directors.
