To the Women Students of the
''
Normal College of the N.A.G.U.
Impressed with the desirability ~f a dormitory for the women students of the College, the Trustees of the Normal College are pleased to announo~ that they have closer a lease for a building well suited to the purpose, known as the
Trenton Flats, No. 516 North New Jersey street.
The new dormitory, which is most conveniently
l~cated diag~nally across the street from the College, will be a decided improvement over the rooming and boardinG houses where the women students of the College have founo accomodat- ions heret~f~re. The building is equipped with every moCTern convenience, and is in excellent condition. Important alter- ations will be made on the ground floor to secure spacious reception room and dining hall.
The Trustees have acquaintec themselves witb the governing rules ann the business management ~f dormitories in universities and colleges of other cities.
The business management of the new dormitory will be in charGe of a matron to be appcinted by the Board of
Trustees. To encrmrage student se lf-covernment, the trustees will appoint a governing board of five students (three s~~iors.
two freshmen), to hold office furing the first semester;
thereafter such board shall be elected by the women students of the College from among their number. The Student Governing Board ~ill be intrusted with the internal manage~ent of the 1ormitory under rules anC. regulations to be established by
1;he stud-ants.
. The cost of room ana. boare will be appro:::~imately
from ~;6 to ~)7 :per week according to size and location of the rooms. The food will be car efully pre:paref and wholesome. The furniture in the sleepinG rooms and th~oughout the building will be new and adapted to the :practical needs of the students.
It is e:zpected that all students, e:;:ceptinG only those whose parents res1o.e in this city, v!ill make the dormi- tory their home, and that they will co-operate with the Board of Trustees to make this undertaking a success in every detail.
The Uomen 's Dormitor~r of the Normal College will 'be
ready for occupancy in time for the openin5 of the Collece in
September next.
The Trustees reserve tl1e riGht to rent rooms to women students of other colleges or schools of this city, in case there should not be a sufficient number of the :Normal College students for the occupancy of the ,~,hole building.
Respectfully yours,
Franklin Vonnecut, :?resident.
