Kewibawaan dayah Islam di Samalanga telah terbentuk sejak awal dalam tradisi dayah Islam dan dalam masyarakat Samalanga. Meski sudah lama berlalu, namun kehidupan masyarakat Islam Dayah hidup berdampingan dengan kelompok Muhammaddiyah.
Kepemilikan otoritas inilah yang memformulasikan kekuatan dan eksistensi Dayat Islam di Samalanga menjadi semakin kokoh, kokoh, berani dan seolah tak tergantikan. Dalam perkembangan Pondok Pesantren di Samalanga, beberapa ahli sejarah menyebutkan bahwa Pondok Pesantren di Samalanga telah berdiri berdampingan dengan pembangunan Masjid Agung yang dibangun oleh Sultan Iskandar Muda sekitar abad ke-16, Sultan Iskandar Muda (Raja ke-12). Aceh, memerintah 1607-1636 M). Bersatunya GAM dan Dayah Islam menunjukkan bahwa selain pesantren Dayak, seharusnya tidak ada lagi yang bernilai di Samalanga, Aceh secara umum.
Pada saat yang sama, kecenderungan dominan inilah yang menimbulkan suasana tidak tenang bagi Dayah Islam. Apalagi dayah Islam yang tersebar di Samalanga sudah ada sejak zaman Kerajaan Iskandar Muda dan mampu bertahan hingga masa penjajahan hingga sekarang.
