This study attempts to study the use of WhatsApp in English language classrooms to optimize the function of the mobile phone for the students' learning process. The data is summarized to identify the usefulness of the learning tool for the students. The results of the study suggested that the use of WhatsApp is important to help students learn the language better and improve their skills in using the English language.

On the basis of the above statements, the researcher can conclude that the source of learning cannot be in the same place as the students, we also have to use technology and give a number of activities and tasks from home, and lastly, give feedback in the learning process.

The trainer is ready with a variety of tasks and triggers that can help participants learn independently. According to the statement above, the researcher concludes that there are five different distance education learning processes. The first is independent learning, where learning is initiated by students several times, guided learning is one of a variety of distance learning, which can be face-to-face or virtual.

Asynchronous learning is learning that can take place without requiring the simultaneous presence of students. Another characteristic of distance learning is synchronous learning, it refers to learning/teaching that takes place simultaneously via electronic mode. Direct interaction with teachers and students in real time is very similar to a traditional face-to-face classroom, much better as distance is no longer a barrier and with internet connectivity you don't waste time traveling.

Based on the above statements, the researcher can conclude that the characteristic of distance education, such as that in the learning process there is no meeting directly or face to face, using media to make a learning process, and also paying attention to the students as individual learners. The characteristic of distance learning also asynchronous learning, because this learning can occur without requiring the presence of students at the same time. The researcher can conclude that there are some roles in supporting distance education, ie. students, teachers, play an important role in distance education, without them distance education cannot go well.

Media has many kinds, such as print media, graphic media, audio media, film and multimedia, and the functions of media in the learning process, such as helping teachers with their duties, helping students, improving learning process.

Distance learning is one of the learning methods that connect the students and the teacher by using media online, the characteristic of distance learning such as that in the learning process there is no meeting directly or face to face, using media to make a learning process, and also pay attention to the students as individual learners, so that the learning process can be both asynchronous learning and synchronous learning. According to the statement above, the direction of this research, the researcher wants to know the use of WhatsApp is also their support and hindrance factors in the learning process, especially in English subject.

Conceptual Framework

Based on the Conceptual Framework above, Distance Learning is the learning process that moves teachers and students from a normally in-person classroom into a ephemeral online space.
