Is there a positive and significant influence of using the story prediction technique on narrative writing skills in the tenth grade of the SMK PGRI 1 Sekampung Udik, East Lampung?”. The objectives of the study are to know whether there is a positive and significant influence of the technique of predicting stories on the writing skills of the students. According to Evelyn Hatch, “The independent variable is the main variable you hope to investigate.

According to Evelyn Hatch, "The dependent variable, on the other hand, is the variable you observe and measure to determine the effect of the independent variable."48. Based on Anderson with Arsenault said that "instrument includes test and questionnaire, observation schedules and any other instrument used to collect data"51. The researcher used essay test, both pre and post test to collect the data. To know if the use of prediction story technique can affect the students' story writing ability.

The table of the expected frequency at the result of students writing narrative ability in pre-test and post-test. It aims to know the influence of the use of prediction story technique on the students' story writing ability from the results of these tests; we know that there were different scores from the students. There is a positive and significant influence of the use of prediction story technique on the students' story writing ability at the Tenth Grade of SMK PGRI 1Sekampung Udik.

There is no positive and significant influence of using prediction storytelling technique on the narrative writing ability of students in the tenth grade of SMK PGRI 1Sekampung Udik. It means that there is a positive and significant influence of the use of prediction story technique on the narrative writing ability of students in the tenth grade of SMK PGRI 1 Sekampung Udik. The subjects of the research were the tenth class of SMK PGRI 1 Sekampung Udik in the academic year 2017/2018.

Thus, there is an influence of using the prediction storytelling technique on the narrative writing skills of the students in the tenth grade of SMK PGRI 1 Sekampung Udik.

Thus, there is no positive and significant influence of using the prediction story technique on writing ability. To find out the students' writing skills in Narrative Ability before giving the treatment, the students were given a pre-test that has to be done individually. Prepare the table to prove whether there is an influence of using the story prediction technique on the narrative writing skills of the tenth grade students of SMK PGRI 1 Sekampung Udik.

The conclusion of the research is that the predictive story is one of the techniques that can help students and make it easier to write a narrative text.

Theoritical Framework and Paradigm

There is a positive and significant influence of using the prediction story technique for narrative writing skills in tenth grade students in SMK PGRI 1 of SEKAMPUNG UDIK, EAST LAMPUNG. There is no positive and significant influence of using the prediction storytelling technique on narrative writing skills in tenth grade students in SMK PGRI 1 of SEKAMPUNG UDIK, EAST LAMPUNG. The researcher used different ways to measure writing ability by composing a story by creating a paragraph or by writing text.

In this case, the researcher gave pre-test before the students get more explanation in writing narrative ability. To investigate whether there was any positive and significant influence of Prediction Story Technique on Students' Story Writing Ability at the tenth grade of SMK PGRI 1 SEKAMPUNG UDIK, EAST LAMPUNG. After knowing the pre-test result of the students' mastery about writing narrative ability, the students got a bad score and then the teacher gave treatment about using prediction story technique as the best technique to understand writing narrative text .

It was useful to know the impact of using predictive storytelling technique on students' narrative writing ability from the score of those tests. The first was that the students did not understand how to use the technique effectively in narrative skill writing. The school is recommended to do further studies in the application of the predictive storytelling technique in the teaching of narrative text writing.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

Research Design

According to Daniel muijs, Quantitative research is to explain phenomena by collecting numerical data which is analyzed with the help of mathematically based methods (especially statistics).44 according to John W. A quantitative approach is one in which the investigator primarily makes positive claims for the development of use knowledge (I cause and effect thinking, reduction to specific variables and hypotheses and questions, use of measurement and observation, and the testing of theories), use strategies of investigation such as experiments and surveys, and collect data on predetermined instruments that yield statistical data .45. This research design is also called a type of experiment that does not meet the requirement of scientific experiment.

In this study design, there were three categories: single case study, pre-test and post-test, and static group comparison. In the pre-test and post-test group, there were two tests before and after treatment. In this study, the researcher used one class, as an experimental class that received the special treatment that learned writing by using the prediction story technique and has a pre-test and post-test that are done before and after the treatment to test the effect of demonstrate the treatment. .

This research consists of two variables, they were independent variable (X) (prediction story technique) and dependent variable (Y) (writing narrative ability). 46Evelyn Hatch and HosseinFarhady, Research Design and Statistics for Applied Linguistics, (Rowley: Newbury House Publishers.Inc, 1982), p.20.

The Operational Definition Of Variable

After the aspect is done, the score will be achieved per category, a final score will be given as to whether the teacher applied teaching in the class as high, fair, bad. Based on the explanation above, the researcher in this research would use prediction story technique to conduct a treatment for the students in the tenth grade of SMK PGRI 1 Sekampung Udik, East Lampung. Students can understand and use intrinsic and extrinsic elements of the narrative text well.

Population, Sample, and Sampling Technique

According to Geoffry, "a sample is a student of populations believed to be representative of the entire population".50 This means that a sample is that part of the population that represents the population to be studied. The sample of the research was thirty-one students, they were tenth grade students of SMK PGRI 1 Sekampung Udik. This means that a sampling technique is a writer's way of taking a sample from a population.

The documentation refers to a wide range of written, physical and visual materials, including what other authors may refer to as artefacts. The document may be personal, such as autobiographies, diaries and letters; official, such as files, report, memoranda or minutes; or documents of popular culture such as books, films and videos.52 So, the researcher used the documentation method to get detailed information about the history of the school, student list, teacher and employment of SMK PGRI 1 SEKAMPUNG UDIK.

SMK PGRI 1 Sekampung Udik is located on Marga sari Street Bumi Mulyo Sekampung Udik, East Lampung. SMK PGRI 1 Sekampung Udik has the following buildings: 3 classrooms, 1 main room, 1 teacher's rooms, 1 administration staff room, 1 count1 library's room, 1 computer laboratory, 3 bathrooms, 3 canteens, a ceremony garden and parking area. Teacher asked them to do essay tests consisting of the material of Writing Narrative Text. They are given 90 minutes to complete the tests.

From the result of the pre-test, the researcher found that the students' problems were in using ineffective technique to study writing narrative text. So the students were motivated to use this technique to improve their written narrative mastery. In this process, the researcher saw that the students were interested and they motivated to master this technique, finally the teacher gave a post test to know their ability after giving the instruction (treatment).

To measure the influence of using prediction story technique, the researcher tested the students by giving them essay tests. The post-test result is therefore categorized in a good category, even though some of them still lack narrative ability to write, but it was good because they put a lot of effort into learning the writing process.

Hypothesis Testing

Then know the critical value of Chi-Square the researcher first counted df, it was degree of freedom. To know the critical value of t-test ( tteble), the researcher first counted df, df is degree of freedom.
