INTRODUCTION
Each individual house church within the city or region was a different reality of the church. In this thesis, references to the church of the city will include the possibility of a regional or people group focus for the church and the five ministry functions. Understanding the dual reality of the NT church brings clarity about the functions of church leadership.
Scripture does not support the assumption that the manifestation of a spiritual gift automatically places one in a corresponding official position in the church of the city. Such churches today do not reflect the ministries of the NT church.9 Anachronistic misunderstandings here will hinder this study. However, assuming that the missionary's job is accurately understood is not beneficial.
All the functions of the ministry must be established if we want to complete the missionary task of making disciples of all peoples. 20. Each of the ministry functions has a special role to play in making disciples of all peoples.

Misunderstandings of the function of the teacher of Ephesians 4 developed early in the history of the church.
