In the purpose of this project, evangelism is defined as "the preaching of the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ for the purpose of bringing about reconciliation between the sinner and God the Father through the regenerating power of the Holy Spirit. John Oswalt demonstrates the importance of considering the sequential relationship of the vision elements when he writes: “The sequential relationship between the elements should not be overlooked. The new disciple must be baptized, but he or she must also be taught to "observe all that I have commanded you". The church's educational function is thus of great importance.

Robert Mounce helps one see the permanence and eternity of torment in the lake of fire when he writes: "The. What is it about the "book of life" that spares them [those whose names are written in the book]. Considering verse 8 Douglas Moo writes: "The opening formula 'But what does it say?' repeats the initial introduction to the series of quotations from Deut.

To help participants fully understand what is meant by the term "contagious Christian," the following six components of contagious Christianity are identified: (1) it is driven by love; (2) it flows out of authenticity; (3) it is built on relationships; (4) it is expressed in both actions and words; (5) it is a process; (6) it is always a partnership.34 An essential element of the first session is to have participants prepare a prayer list (names of people they will pray for throughout the six sessions) and an influence list (a person they will focus on their prayers and thoughts about). To the model's credit, it says: "The crime we must never commit is to abandon a new-born spiritual baby!"35.

However, as I thoroughly researched each passage, I gained a much deeper personal conviction to equip believers at the church where I pastor to confidently share the gospel on a personal level. My research and study of this passage made me realize that although we have long understood the message of the passage, we as New Testament Christians and churches have largely failed in the practical application of this command. One of the most important factors in deciding to pursue the Doctor of Ministry degree in evangelism and church growth was knowing that I needed what this program offered to lead the church that God had called me to pastor.

At a time when most Southern Baptist churches are flat or declining, when baptisms are declining, and when churches are clearly not reaching the lost, it is important to step back from the statistics and the bigger picture to ask, "What is my role in this whole script?" The Doctor of Ministry program helped me do that, and this project helped me put my academic training to practical use. Having been a faithful and active church member for forty-four years, and a pastor for the past sixteen years, I have long been aware of the biblical mandate to reach the lost and create. Those who do not have the gift of evangelism are not obligated to share the gospel. The Bible gives me a personal mandate to share the gospel with the unsaved people in my life. Extend your faith by giving it away: Tell the gospel story with grace and passion.
