In the context of the church, ministry leaders are expected to promote the purpose of Crossroads Community Church to glorify God by making disciples, baptizing and teaching. The third goal was to increase participation in ministry leadership at Crossroads by adding 10 ministry leaders who completed the ministry leadership course. The study is designed to increase ministry leaders' knowledge of biblical content and practical skill.
The third goal was to increase participation in ministry leadership at Crossroads by adding 10 new ministry leaders who have completed office. Third, the scope of ministerial leadership for this project included both men and women, as both serve as ministerial leaders at Crossroads. Crossroads Community Church must develop a simple, repeatable process for training biblically qualified ministry leaders to serve as elders, deacons and other ministry leaders.
The goal of this project was to increase the knowledge of biblically qualified ministry leaders by creating, teaching, and evaluating a curriculum offered at Crossroads Community Church in Carol Stream, Illinois. Taken together, these texts will demonstrate the need for sound ministry leaders within a local church.
God’s People Need Spiritual Leaders
Thomas Dozeman points out that the Hebrew text is unambiguous when read literally: "If you are exhausted, you will be exhausted."11 Moses needed help to lead and care for the people. But sharing the burden of ministry can be dangerous, so the next paragraph of Exodus 18 provides guidance for the kind of person it should be. Moses faced a challenge familiar to all who lead people—he needed help to be effective.
The counsel applies today: those who would lead God's people must model high moral excellence. The need for morally qualified leaders for God's people is a recurring theme in the New Testament. The apostles then passed the priority to the younger generation to model godliness and provide care for God's "sheep".
Just as Moses led Israel into the wilderness, pastors today are called to lead and care for God's people. These leaders must exemplify spiritual maturity, care for the people, and lead the Church to the fulfillment of its mission.
Spiritual Leaders Must Care for God’s People Must Care for God’s People
Darrell Bock argues that “the presence of elders in Ephesus shows that Paul structured the church and its leadership before he left (see Acts). Bock points out: “The main exhortation to the elders is that they should constantly watch themselves and fulfill their overseers. "29 Elders who stray are sure to lead the sheep astray. Bruce writes, "The sheep will have to be guarded with unceasing vigilance, for fierce wolves will try to force their way among them and destroy them."32
Commentators Thomas Lea and Hayne Griffin summarize: "The word suggests the meaning not to be grasped. Next, Paul lists six positive personal character traits: "A husband of a wife, sober, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach" (1 Tim 3:2).Leadership coach Mac Lake makes this point: “The long-term health and spiritual vitality of any church depends on leadership development.”1.
This is biblical.2 As Lake writes, “The Church is uniquely set apart to develop and deploy leaders for the glory of God and the advancement of the gospel.”3. Pastor Thabiti Anyabwile explains, “The Lord designed the Church to need divine leaders. Joshua Patterson of the Dallas Village Church writes, “The most important quality people look for in leadership is not skill, but virtue.”31 Character is especially important in the local church, where the purpose is “to proclaim the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness into his wonderful light” (1 Peter 2:9).
Collins acknowledged that nonprofits (what he called the "social sectors") benefited from his leadership book, Good to Great. Longtime pastor Larry Osborne reminds ministry leaders that "the best time to remove a problem player is before he gets his spot on the team."66 Ministry volunteers must understand and agree with the purpose of the ministry. In the spring of 2020, I taught a Leadership Development course at the Village Bible campus of Crossroads Community Church.4 The course included seven ninety-minute sessions with a total of thirty-six participants.
This session defined leadership as "influencing others to achieve a worthy goal." The material identified four qualities of effective leaders: integrity, vision, humility and generosity. The section in the notes on humility taught that a ministry leader must understand that they serve a greater cause—the gospel, not their program. This goal was achieved when a panel of experts reviewed and suggested improvements .. percent).1 The panel included three college professors and a local pastor.
A t-test for dependent samples was used to determine if there was a significant change in the mean scores as measured by the class surveys.6 The survey showed a significant positive statistical change in the mean scores overall based on a review of the data. However, mature Christians also recognize that those spiritual leaders serve a higher authority—the Lord Jesus and his gospel.
