Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui ada atau tidaknya korelasi antara kreativitas siswa dan pencapaian menulis mereka dalam teks deskriptif.

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMK Negeri 4 Tanjungpinang. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X tahun akademik 2022/2023. Sampel yang diambil berjumlah 29 orang di kelas X RPL 1 dengan menggunakan teknik pengambilan sampel acak berkelompok. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan korelasional. Data yang diperoleh di analisa menggunakan metode korelasi Pearson Product Moment dan alat yang digunakan adalah kuesioner kreativitas siswa dan tes menulis teks deskriptif. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya korelasi, dengan indeks koefisien nilai korelasi (𝑟𝑥𝑦) sebesar 0.425 yang berarti adanya korelasi pada tingkat medium (sedang). Selain itu, pengetesan hipotesis menunjukkan indeks koefisien nilai korelasi (𝑟𝑥𝑦) sebesar 0.425 lebih besar dari indeks koefisien nilai korelasi dari tabel Product Moment (𝑟𝑡) sebesar 0.367 yang mana berarti hipotesis nol (𝐻0) dan hipotesis alternative (H2) ditolak, hipotesis alternatif (𝐻1) diterima. Kesimpulannya, ada korelasi positif diantara dua variable.

The purpose of this research was to find whether or not there is a correlation between students’ creativity and their achievement in writing descriptive text. This research was conducted at SMK Negeri 4 Tanjungpinang. The population in this research was tenth grade students of SMKN 4 Tanjungpinang in the academic year of 2022/2023. The sample taken was 29 students in X RPL 1 class by using cluster random sampling. The method used in this research was the quantitative method with the correlational design. The collected data were analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment Correlation and the instruments used were questionnaire of students’

creativity and writing descriptive text test. The result showed that there was a correlation, with the index value of correlation coefficient (𝑟𝑥𝑦) of 0.425 which meant there was a moderate correlation. Furthermore, the hypothesis testing showed that the index value of correlation coefficient (𝑟𝑥𝑦) of 0.425 was higher than the index value of correlation coefficient of the Product Moment table (𝑟𝑡) of 0.367 which meant that the null hypothesis (𝐻0) and alternative hypothesis (H2) was rejected, alternative hypothesis (𝐻1) was accepted. In conclusion, there was positive correlation between the two variables.
