Based on the theory presented, it can be interpreted that from the theories described above, it is clear that this study assesses that reading comprehension and vocabulary mastery have an important and special place in reading comprehension. The purpose of a social recount is to document a series of events and in some way evaluate their significance. The purpose of a literary narrative/story is to tell a sequence of events that entertains.

Theoretical Framework
The above study's similarity to Pearson Product Moment uses a simple random sampling technique to select the sample. The difference from previous studies was the use of 8th grade students in SMP Negeri 32 Sigi, the formulation of the research problems and the use of recount text. Prior to the trial lesson (sample), a preliminary test was used to measure the extent to which they had mastered the material.
This activity will be used to find out if there is a connection between their vocabulary skills and reading comprehension in learning English.
Research Hypothesis
Correlational research is a quantitative method designed to show the relationship between two or more variables. Correlational research is similar to descriptive survey in that it is non-experimental, consisting of only one group of individuals and two or more variables that are not manipulated or controlled by the researcher.37. Correlational research is research conducted by a researcher to determine the degree of correlation between two variables or more than two variables.
The hypothesis offers two variables; variable X and variable Y. Variable X is vocabulary mastery and variable Y is students' reading comprehension. The test results are used to test whether there is a significant correlation between students' vocabulary mastery and students' reading comprehension.
Sample and Population a. Population
The time for this research was conducted in January 2023 for approximately 3 to 4 weeks of research depending on the conditions in the research fields. The sample is a subset of the target population from which the researcher plans to learn generalizations about the target population. It is clear that the sample is a group in the population that represents the population to be studied.
The method researchers use to obtain a representative sample of the target population is simple random sampling. In this technique, each member of the population is given the same chance of being selected as a member of the sample.

Documentation is an important type of technique to obtain data about any thing or variable that is from note, transcript, book, newspaper, magazine, meeting result, agenda, etc.46 According to Basrow, documentation is a tool to collect data that produce important data related to the problem under study, in order to obtain. 47 Their data means Documentation is a way of collecting data that produces important data about an issue under study in order to obtain complete, legal and non-evaluative data. In this research, documentation is used to obtain historical data, organizational structure, vision, mission and purpose, number of students and teachers of SMA N 1 Sambit.
Test
It is used to measure student achievement and to determine whether teaching is successful or not. Therefore, you know that a test is at the level of a question or exercise or ability that an individual or group has and is used in this research to assess the reading comprehension of students. In developing the test, the researcher used the manual used by the teacher to teach the Xth grade students of SMAN 1 Sambit.
The purpose of this test is to measure the relationship between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension. The instrument of data collection is used to collect data on vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension as follows.
Validity and Reliability
Validity
After obtaining the vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension score data, the researcher calculated validity using SPSS 25 for Windows.
Reliability
After measurement by SPSS 25, the test result is interpreted with “r” product moment (rt).
Data Analysis
The product moment formula or correlation aims to: Test whether there is a correlation between vocabulary mastery (X) and reading comprehension (Y).59. In this research, the researcher only focused on tenth grade students at SMAN 1 Sambit in the academic year 2022/2023. Based on the results of research conducted by researchers, researchers found that there were problems that occurred in the use of vocabulary and the development of students' reading comprehension.
This is because they have the same type of material in the recount text over and over again. Based on the above statement, the researcher proposes to improve vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension in retelling texts.

The result of student’s Score of Sample random Sampling
Based on the data obtained from the documentation, 28 respondents indicated that the students' vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension showed that the highest score was 20 and the lowest score was 8. The score of the documentation on students' vocabulary mastery can be it is clearly seen in the table below. It can be seen that the score that is above 20 is considered good, while the score that is less than 13 is categorized as low and the score between 13-20 is categorized as average.
Based on data obtained from documentation, 28 respondents indicated that students' reading comprehension showed that the highest score was 20 and the lowest score was 10. It can be seen that the scores that are more than 20 are considered good, while the scores that are is less than 14 is categorized as low and the score between 14-20 is categorized as medium.
Inferential Statistics
To determine whether the data is a normal distribution or not, it can be seen from the result of the normality test of the data. So it can be interpreted that both data (vocabulary acquisition and reading comprehension score) are in a normal distribution. Product Moment Correlation Results The calculation of the correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension using Microsoft excel is as follows.
Based on the table above, the results of the normality test using the production moment formula are 0.889. From the result of the above test hypothesis, it can be deduced that the interpretation shows that there is a relationship between the student's vocabulary mastery (X) and reading comprehension (Y).
Discussion
There is therefore a correlation between students' vocabulary mastery (X) and students' reading comprehension (Y) at SMAN 1 Sambit 2022/2023. From the calculation score of vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension at SMAN 1 Sambit in the academic year 2022/2023 above, it got researcher rxy 0.889 while the value of rtable at the significant standard 5% (two-tailed) with db=N-no. =28-2= 26 found number 0.361. Furthermore, there is a relationship between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension at SMAN 1 Sambit in the academic year 2022/2023.
Certainly, it fits with Eric Jensen's theory, which explains that the factor that correlates with vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension is determined by the teacher. Based on the finding and interpretation that initially started with the normality test, the data met the requirement and the approval of the research hypothesis on the relationship between students' vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension in retelling text that happened with the tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Sambit Ponorogo.
Suggestions
The future researchers interested in implementing the correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension using recount text. When completing group assignments, each member worked together and assisted each other in mastering vocabulary and reading comprehension related to retelling texts.
