ANNOUNCEMENT.

The Ki nth Annual Session of the 1 n<liana Dental College will begin on Tuesday, October 4, 1887, and close the first"' ednes<lay in March, 1888.

The College is permanently locate,! in the JEtna Block, on Penn11yl- vania street, corner of Court. Tlti~ property has been arranged, fitted up, and furnished expressly for tlte purpose~ of this school.

The Infirmary is eigl,ty-fin, fret long. lta, fourteen large windows, nearly all looking north, and su11plied witlt all necessarJ appliances.

The Df'ntnl Laboratory, lo<'atc·cl 011 the fourth floor, is completely fitted with work-tables and all moclel'll appro\'ecl appliances for work and instruction in mechanical dentistry.

The Lecturt> Room, on the foul'th floor, is well ligl,tecl and com·enient.

The Dissecting Room iti on tlic fourtl, floor, l,ack, and very conveniently arranged. An ample supply of dissecting material always nt hand, with- out extra expense to students.

This institution affords every facility for the acquirement of a good dental education, both didactic nnd prnctlenJ. All students are required to work in the laboratory, and operate in the infirmary. The clinic prac- tice at the College is greater than the students can poFsibly wnit upon.

Juniors and Seniors enjoy equal facilities for learning.

The Indiana Dental College is not a department of any University or Medical College, and has no connection with any other institution. It is owned by stockholders, residing in various parts of the State, is duly incorporated under the laws of T ndiana, and devoted exclusively to dental education.

The degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery is conferred on graduates by order of the Board of Trustees, upon recommemlation of the Faculty.

A FULL COURSE IN THIS COLLEGE EMBRACES Operative Dentistry, Dental Pathology and Therapeutics,

Mechanical Dentistry Oral Deformities, Oral Sur- gery, Conduct of Dental Practice, Chemistry,

.Anatomy,· Physiology, Dissecting,

OPERATIVE DENTISTRY.

It is essential that students should become familiar with the manipu- lative properties of all accepted filling material; to this end demonstra- tions will be made with gold, cohesive and non-cohesive; amalgams and tin foil; also the I arious temporary filling materials.

The indications for the use of certain materials in given cases will be carefully explained to the students.

In addition to a full course of lectures, the Professor of Operative Dentistry will exercise personal supei·vision of the Infirmary practice and demonstrations, (L,ly.

This branch includes Dental Histology and Pathology, and Develop- ment of the Teeth.

The Professor of tliis branch will hold clinics at the City Hospital during the term.

MECHANICAL DENTISTRY.

Students are taught to construct practical cases entirely, on all the various bases. Special attention given to making and tempering instru- ments. The Professor of this department exercises personal dir<>ction of every case, his method of instruction combining lectures ·and demonstra- tions.

The Clinical Department embraces complete instructions in the con- struction of Bridge Work, and various forms of Gold Crowns and Pivot Crowns.

The Protessor of Mechanical Dentistry will render clinic services at the City Hospital for the benefit of students of this College.

MATERIA MEDICA AND THERAPEUTICS.

Lectures on these branches will be delivered by the Professor of Chemistry, being presented, however, separate from Chemistry. They will be adapted to the requirements of Dentist'"'·

ORAL DEFORMITIES.

Special instruction, with the use of models arnl pracj;ical cases, will be so rendered as to enable the stml .. nt to com1,reliend the causes, prin- ciples of reduction, or correction of irregularities in arrang<>ment ot natural teeth, and deformities of the jaws. This suhject will be under the Cltre of the Prnfessors of Operative and )Iechanical Dentistry.

CHEMISTRY.

Chemistry will be taught by lecturP, quiz, and actual laboratory experience.

The course will be opened with a lecture of a popular and general nature, the subject of Chemistry being so introduced and treated as to give the student a view of the field the teacher intends to covn during the two years' course.

Such attention will be given to Physics as is useful an<l necessary to the dentist.

Chemical Philosophy will be presented as the student ad,·anccs in a knowledge of reactions and th<' chemical properties of matter.

Laboratory work includes experiments illustrating chemical laws and reactions, together with synthesis and analysis.

Animal, Vegetable, and Medical Chemistry will be treated as exten- sively and as thoroughly as time and the general progress of the students will permit.

Metallurgy will recei\'e the attention that its importance to the dentist demands.

necessary instruments and appliances can sometimes be brought from home. They can be bought here very cheaply, at liberal discount from catalogue rates. Money spent for good instruments is never wasted, as they last mrrny years. Students should purchase the best. There are two extensive dental depots near the College.

Lists of Instruments and Appliances, with prices added, will be furnished, on request, by mail.
