The Background of the Study

When the students can gain understanding from the text, they understand the message of the text. In addition, the students found it difficult to identify the detail information and also to find the main idea of the text. 3 the heterogony of the students' cognition in the class made the problem of the teacher.

For this study, this technique is focused on a learning system where students work together in a work group. In addition, it is very useful in the classroom and will help students in the learning process. We hope that students have developed their skill in using strategies and how to minimize students of heterogeneous ability where students have the same ability in learning. The goals of collaborative integrated reading and composition are to improve reading comprehension by reducing heterogeneous student ability so that the teacher can teach in the learning process of teaching.

Oral reading can act as an evaluation check and add an extra student participant if the teacher wants to highlight a particular short section of the reading passage. Some activities that the teacher can use for reading aloud such as guessing game, picture description and missing letters to develop students' reading comprehension. A general assumption about reading is that students need to improve their reading ability by reading a lot. Readers responded that since no one is watching them, they are not as concerned when they make mistakes. Silent reading is the opposite of reading a lot. This activity really aims to improve student understanding.

In extensive reading, students read quantitatively without bothering to check every unfamiliar word structure. After students have completed a pre-reading activity, skimming the gist and reviewing key details, extensive reading is simply a relatively quick and efficient process of reading a text for global or general meaning. It is considered an important aspect because if students have less vocabulary knowledge, they might express their ideas noticeably.

Students may encounter some difficulties in answering the best test, especially in the form of easy test. Most of the students could not answer the question because they do not understand how to answer the question with a good grammar in terms of structure. The reading material, which is written in a very complex structure, will be difficult for students to understand, especially for those who have limited knowledge of grammar.

In general, there were two types of tests that could be used to measure the students' ability, namely oral test (usually used in listening and speaking test) and written test (usually used for making test of reading and writing). For this study, this technique is focused on the learning system where the students work together in a work group. Teacher asked the students some questions to motivate them to guess the story talking about.

The teacher showed a narrative video that related to the reading material the students would be teaching and learning. The teacher asked students from each group to read a text or story with a group of peers. In the discussion, the different answers of the students can enrich their knowledge and help them to choose an answer.

And the arrangement of the details in your description depends on your topic and purpose. To describe something, the person must have a good imagination about that thing that will be described. When reading, the reader enters into a conversation with the author by interpreting what the author means in his writing and connecting this to his prior knowledge.

In reading comprehension, the reader not only tries to understand what the author wants to give, but the readers also have to compare what he reads and what he knows, called knowledge. By doing this, the reader will be a critical reader who will not understand what the author writes and find out some information. The information that is suitable for him is selected and, after reading, gives his opinion on the content of the text, including its accuracy, appropriateness and timelessness.

The integrated composition of cooperative reading is one of those techniques, which is suitable for helping the reader to read. This technique is very useful to create a comfortable learning environment, as students have more opportunities to interact with others by discussing and improving their reading comprehension. 28 In conclusion, applying the Collaborative Integrated Reading Composition technique to teaching reading comprehension will have a significant improvement in students' reading comprehension.

The descriptive text was intended to measure the reading comprehension ability of second-year students at SMP SWASTA AL HIMAH MEDAN in the academic years 2017-2018. The test was administered to both, an experimental class using Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC).

I distributed the descriptive text test to the students. The test was given by the researcher to the students and the students at that time had a direct answer. Data would be collected and analyzed by performing the quantitative method. the following step was taken into account in analyzing the data. By listing their result in two tables, the first experimental group's result is as variable x, the second for the control group as variable y.

Data Analysis

Based on table 2.1 above it could be seen that there were differences between the pre-test and post-test score of the experimental class. After calculation, the data for the above experimental group for the pre-test was 1805. and the total score for the post-test was 2345. Based on the table 2.2 above, it could be seen that there were differences between the pre-test and post-test score of control class.

According to the calculated data for the control group above, the score for the pretest was 1575 and the total score for the posttest was 1750.
