So that with the suitability of the application used, the teacher better understands in the teaching of writing, especially the writing of descriptive text. The teacher is one of the sources in the process of developing the students' skills in learning English. The result of this research can be used as one of the references or guidelines for future researchers related to the topic.

The Genres of Writing

Narrative text is a type of text that contains stories about our experiences in the past. The purpose of narrative text is usually to narrate and provide information and entertain the reader.

The Purpose of Writing

The writer aims to explain, clarify, explore and carefully research the author's own thoughts and ideas so that the reader can understand and accept them. From the above explanation, therefore, it follows that the writer is not careless in pouring out his thoughts.

The Process of Writing

In this case, the writer writes the results of their thoughts on the topic they find themselves, or the results of the discussions carried out. In this technique, the writer writes below the topic in the center of the paper and then circles around it. In this phase, the writer sorts and organizes the ideas found from the results of the discussions conducted or the results of his own thoughts.

Circle or highlight the best part of the prescribing and make an informal outline (Mayers, 2005). The draft writing stage is a preliminary activity, meaning that writing the first draft will continue and change with the writing of the. The focus of the dialogue in this phase is on the content or meaning of the writing.

Teaching Writing

According to Cope and Kalantzis (1993) cited in (Wicaksana 2016), there are three stages in this approach: (1) modeling the target genre for students, (2) construction of the text by the teacher and students together, and (3) construction of each student's text especially. We believe that a combination of approaches that emphasize process, product, and genre can greatly help students develop their writing skills by considering (1) the personal processes that students go through when writing, such as drafting, revising, and editing; (2) accuracy of language used as reflected in mastery of grammar, vocabulary, mechanics, and coherence and cohesion; and (3) the purpose of writing as determined by mode of discourse and genre.

Definition of Descriptive Text

The characteristics of the object can be derived from the physical characteristics, quality and character of the object to be described. When writing this descriptive text, the language features that can be used by the writer include the involvement of specific participants, the use of tense Suparyanto dan Rosad (2020:5). Descriptive writing appeals to the senses so that it tells what something looks, feels, smells, tastes or sounds like.

A good description is a word picture; readers can picture an object, place, or person in their mind. As we read the model section, notice how the description moves from the bottom of the ladder to the top. This means that a good sentence must be accompanied by supporting sentences to clarify what is being discussed.

So that the recipient of the writing can read clearly and imagine what is meant in the writing. Descriptive writing from Syahputri and Masita was chosen to provide specific information and images. Such writings in magazines and newspapers are equally important in conveying certain ideas.

The Advantages of Padlet Application

Writing is considered the most important skill as it is the basis for communication, but it is also considered a difficult skill for students to master in detail. Padlet is able to create a real classroom atmosphere (social presence and teaching presence) because there are teachers and students at the same time. Educators can present teaching aids, teaching materials, attendance lists, grades directly in the Padlet column or via a link from web and google forms that have been prepared beforehand.

Educators can organize more varied learning activities based on tasks or projects individually, in pairs or in groups. Using the Padlet platform, interactive learning can also be achieved although the learning is still screen-to-screen. The existence of a Padlet platform can be an option for educators in implementing online learning.

In addition, the use of Padlet in learning can be used as a forum for collaboration between good teachers and fellow subject teachers and between other subjects.

Procedures of Padlet Application

We can add material by using various available functions, such as the one in the image. Save assignment, discussion, or topic results to the three-dot icon section and select share, embed, or export. When it's time to be done, close or lock the Padlet so no one can access it and select from the share or embed menu or on export and then click change privacy (Fisher 2017).

In the last three years, the technology has not become a word that we rarely hear. Effective use of technology in the classroom can promote student engagement in the learning process, and help teachers improve their lesson planning and quality of instruction. One of the technologies that can be used to learn to speak is the Padlet application.

There are several aspects to consider when writing lessons, such as grammar, vocabulary, form, and style. In today's era, there are many applications available as a place for teaching new languages ​​that can be used by teachers to get productive lessons.

Previous Research

The second is adapted from Munirah Haris, Melor Md Yunus and Jamaludin Hj Bdusah (Haris, Yunus and Badusah. 2017) entitled “The Effectiveness of Using Padlet in Esl”. The survey result also showed a high preference and positive attitude of the participants towards using Padlet as a means of learning grammar. The findings indicated that the use of Padlet is effective in improving students' performance in language learning.

This means that Padlet can make a contribution to students' descriptive text writing, it was effective for students who write. It can thus be concluded that the student's desire to learn is strongly influenced by the teacher's teaching technique. One way we can see through the research above is by using a Padlet application.

Descriptive Analysis

The skill level presented in the table is determined based on the criterion reference scales (Arikunto, 2006:245). Inferential Analysis

Used to know whether experimental group and control group, which are decided, come from population that have relatively the same variant or not. If the calculation result of F is lower than F table with 5% degree of significance so that Ho is accepted, it means that both groups have the same variant. Testing hypothesis is a statistical test used to find out whether the hypotheses accepted for the sample data are valid for the entire population or not.

Simply put, a hypothesis is an assumption that is tested to determine the relationship between two pieces of data. The test used by the writer to find out whether the Padlet application is effective in teaching descriptive text in the eleventh grade of SMA HKBP private school. In other words, it is used to decide whether the hypothesis will be accepted or rejected.
