The researcher tried to analyze the application of Grammarly in the analysis of writing errors for the tenth grade students of SMA NEGERI 1 LAU BALENG.

The problem to be discussed in this study can be summarized in the following question: How does the effectiveness of grammar application in writing descriptive text Tenth Grade SMA Negeri 1 Lau Baleng. It is expected that this research will help teachers find alternative ways in the process of analyzing students' writing errors.

In addition, written communication is also more memorable because there is a process of waiting for the writing to reach the reader and then a process of waiting for a response. Writing is an aspect of language skills that is specifically programmed to enable language use.

Expository writing is writing that aims to describe, explain, or inform the reader about any topic. Descriptive writing is a way of writing that involves an in-depth description of an area or person that is intended to create a vivid image in the reader's mind and give them a higher sense of the story. Writing is one of the skills needed to acquire knowledge or information that needs to be communicated to others.

Descriptive writing is most commonly used in fiction, but there's no reason it shouldn't exist there. Writing is an important part of real life in the modern era, as it is now (Karyuatry, 2018). Writing is more than just copying, it is also about putting your thoughts and feelings into symbols.

According to Tompkins in (Cicabe & Abdul, 2018), writing is a mechanical skill that can be understood and explored as a process.

During the improvement phase, students revise their writing to add, modify, or delete story structure-related concepts. At this point, students complete the story as an essay by writing back the draft they created by working on the diagram. This can be done as part of an assignment to read the results of the essay, or it can be done in front of the class or on the school magazine.

A text that aims to explain, describe or describe something is generally called a descriptive text. Descriptive text gives information about what something or someone looks like, this text uses words to describe what something or someone is like. In descriptive texts, students can use imagination and perception-making sense to make the reader hear, taste, smell, see and feel while presenting a good word of the topic (Agustina & M, 2018).

In addition, descriptive text also provides facts about how the language or grammar is actually used according to the rules and how that text should be used.

Hypothesis

The findings showed that the Grammarly application has several strengths, such as clear and easy-to-understand feedback, time-saving for students in checking grammar, and a useful feature. Thus, it can be concluded that students' learning skills in writing descriptive texts are strongly influenced by the teacher's teaching techniques. There are many ways to analyze students' writing skills in descriptive text.

When selecting the sample, the researcher selected class 10 IPA – 1 and 10 IPA – 2 as the sample, then divided into two classes, the experimental group and the control group. The researcher then performed a descriptive analysis to calculate the data and test for normality using SPSS V20 on the data from the pre-writing test.

The researcher then applied homogeneity test using SPSS V20 application to see the homogeneity of variance of two different samples.
