The purpose of this thesis is to determine whether the Spot It card game is effective in improving the vocabulary mastery of grade VIII B students of SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Makassar. Based on the above explanation, the researcher is interested in conducting an experimental research under the title "Effectiveness of spot it card game to improve students' vocabulary mastery at SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Makassar". Based on the above background, the researcher formulates the research question as follows: “Is the use of spot it card game effective in improving students' vocabulary mastery in the sense of noun in eighth graders of SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Makassar?.

Based on the above problem, the aim of the research is to find out whether the use of spot it card game is effective in improving students' vocabulary mastery in terms of noun in eighth grade students of SMPMuhammadiyah 6 Makassar. The result of this research is expected to show the effectiveness of using the spot it card game to improve students' vocabulary mastery in terms of noun.

INTRODUCTION

Background

It is proven by the students' scores and the opinion of the teacher of the grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Makassar. One of the activities that can be used effectively in the classroom is the spot it card game. The Spot it card game aims to help students improve their communication skills as well as their enthusiasm for learning new vocabulary.

Problem Statement

Spot it card game is a simple picture on a piece of card or paper to improve students' vocabulary mastery, used as media in the teaching and learning process, and students were able to stimulate their desire to learn vocabulary as well as perfect their knowledge of English Words through this spot it card game. We hope it can make students more able to communicate as well, have motivation in mastering vocabulary and can give positive effect of mastering vocabulary in teaching vocabulary through spot it card game.

Objective of the Research

Using Spot It Cards in Teaching English Vocabulary in College" the results of her study show that using Spot It Cards in teaching English vocabulary not only allows students to understand the marginal meaning of words, but also helps them to use this application in practice. and improve your vocabulary. Consequently, the definition of transportation is "the act of transporting something from one location to another." This research focuses on the effectiveness of the spot it card game to improve students' vocabulary mastery in noun sense.

This is the reason why the researcher tried to use the Spot It card game to improve students' vocabulary mastery in terms of nouns. The researcher conducted the data based on a pre-experimental design with a pretest-posttest. The researcher used a pre-experimental design because there is a relationship between the dependent variable and the independent variable to determine the outcome of the treatment. The researcher provided a treatment to improve students' vocabulary mastery using the Spot It Card Game.

The improvement of the students' vocabulary in terms of noun Table 4.1: The average score of the students. It means that students' vocabulary mastery increased after using the Spot It card game. It means that there is a significant difference in the vocabulary mastery score of the students before and after the lesson with the Spot It card game.

This means that there is no significantly different score for students' vocabulary mastery before and after they have been taught using Spot It card game. This shows that there is a significant difference between the students' vocabulary before and after using the Spot It card game. It can be concluded that the students' vocabulary mastery had been increased after using the Spot It card game treatment.

Significance of the Research

Scope of the Research

Every student has difficulty with vocabulary mastery, so in this research we will examine the effectiveness of the Spot It card game to improve students' vocabulary mastery. A pre-test to determine students' prior knowledge before using the Spot It card game, in this case a vocabulary test, a post-test to determine the effectiveness of the spot it card game to improve students' vocabulary mastery. In this finding, explain the result of the research, such as the students' pre-test and post-test scores.

Based on the above finding, students' vocabulary mastery increased significantly after receiving the treatment using the Spot It card game. The above explanation gave the researcher information that Spot It Card Game was effective in increasing students' vocabulary. Based on the result of the data analysis, the researcher found that applying the Spot It card game in the classroom could improve the vocabulary of the students in the Eightgarde of SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Makassar.

Conceptual Framework

Before conducting the treatment, the researcher administered the pre-test to the students to measure the students' basic vocabulary mastery. The previous explanation shows that the students' vocabulary mastery has improved, it is supported by the mean scores of the students before and after the treatment using the Spot It Card game. The purpose of this research was to find out whether or not the use of Spot It Card Game was effective to increase the vocabulary of students in the eighth grade of SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Makassar in the academic year 2020/2021.

The use of the Spot It card game in teaching vocabulary could increase students' vocabulary, because before and after the treatment, the students had a comparison, before the treatment, the students had a weakness in vocabulary, and after the treatment . Researchers should be more creative in creating an interesting medium for teaching and improving students' vocabulary. CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION

Conclusion

The researcher analyzed the data obtained from the students with a pre-test and post-test class. Therefore, it can be concluded that the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. Moreover, another finding in this research was the mean score of the students in the pretest was 62.4 which was classified as fair classification and the post test was 83.84 which was classified as good classification.

Suggestion

Researchers should be able to develop the use of the Spot It card game in the learning process of teaching, especially count nouns and non-count nouns.
