INTRODUCTION

Problem Statement

To know whether internet materials are more effective than textbooks in teaching writing to students in SMAN 1 BAJENG. Both teaching materials will be applied in teaching writing to the students of SMAN 1 BAJENG. In addition, to write well, students are expected to be able to present their ideas in written form, as writing is a means of communication.

The test pre-test before the treatment and post-test after the treatment to improve the students' writing ability. The results of the research deal with the students' scores of the research activities such as pre-test and post-test, the frequency and the rate percentage of the students' scores. The result of two scores collected and averaged to obtain the students' final score.

The students' score on the pre-test (x1) and post-test (x2), gain/difference between the matched pairs (D), and the square of the gain (D2). A pre-test was given to the students before receiving the treatment, aiming to know students' prior knowledge of writing, and a post-test was given to the students after the treatments. To see if there was a significant improvement in the writing skills of the students, the pre-test and post-test were compared.

The writer observed that there was a difference between the students' writing ability and after the treatments. Then the average score of the students after the test was higher than the average score of the students' pretest. The data in Table 4 above shows that the students' improvement in pre-test and post-test is 10.191.

It means that internet materials are suitable only for students with high level of creativity to learn to write especially argumentative essays. The students were given a pre-test before performing the treatment, which aimed to know the students' prior knowledge of writing, and a post-test was given to the students after they performed the treatments, which aimed to recognize the achievement of the students' writing skills. students after. they received the treatments. The pre-test and post-test were compared to see whether or not there is a significant improvement in students' writing.

The general Concepts of Writing

  • Definition of Writing

Internet Materials

As language teachers, we naturally want to teach our students in the best possible way, with the best resources available to us. However, there are many things to consider before using any new materials, techniques, games, methods or technological means. In order for a teacher to be accountable, students' attitudes, ability levels, interests, and needs must be taken into account when planning a lesson plan or curriculum or activity.

This is equally true when planning to use the Internet, whether in the form of a website, e-mail, chat rooms or MUDS (Multi-user domains). While newspapers and other printed material date very quickly, the Internet is continuously updated, more visually stimulating and interactive, promoting a more active approach to reading rather than a passive one. Lennon cites three main criteria when selecting Internet materials for use in the classroom: content suitability, usability, and readability.

Readability is used to describe the combination of structural and lexical difficulty of a material, as well as to refer to the amount of new vocabulary and any new grammatical forms present. Above all, the material makes the student want to read for himself, tells himself something he does not know, as well as introduces new and relevant ideas. When introducing internet material into the classroom, it should always be done with a purpose, as highlighted.

Students feel more confident, safer when dealing with Internet materials as long as the teacher gives them pedagogical support. Internet materials should be used according to students' ability, with suitable tasks given in which total understanding is not important.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Internet Materials

In this learning process, teachers will be the facilitators, giving the students more opportunities to analyze, discuss and share the issue before writing their analysis in an argumentative essay. Students with a low level of creativity will therefore be suitable when materials from textbooks are used in their classroom activities. One class was selected for the study with the students of the IPS class consisting of 21. Because I want to see their knowledge about English.

In this research, the author uses only one type of instrument, namely writing test (Narrative test) which is used to know the students' writing skills. Before a treatment was given, the researcher administered the pre-test that gave, to see the students' prior ability or know written internet-based material. It has been proven that the material taken from the internet can improve the student's skill in writing as the internet material provides an abundant source of knowledge and information for the students to learn more new vocabulary, dictionaries, styles and ways to improve their writing competence in argumentative writing essays.

The students with high level creativity are able to engage both mental and social processes to produce newly developed ideas to convey and share. On the other hand, the students with a low level of creativity will only rite what he sees, reads and listens without being able to imagine what is beyond it. Lecturers should use materials taken from the Internet professionally and carefully in their teaching so that the students will be more enthusiastic and interested in learning.

FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION

Discussion

3 The teaching and learning process is more effective when it is an active process in which students are involved. The data analysis shows that students with high creativity can show better competence in expressing their ideas in argumentative essays. This is evidenced by the results of their writing skills when the Internet materials were applied in their classrooms.

These are some of the reasons why their writing scores are lower than those with high creativity. No one denies that online materials are believed to be the most interesting and enjoyable way for students to learn to write especially argumentative essays. Teaching writing through Internet materials is a method used to increase language use and foreign language acquisition.

Thus, students learn best when they are allowed to express themselves in such a way that they are able to express their creativity in written form. During the learning process, the writer explains how to write his argumentative essay based on internet materials. This research has revealed that materials obtained from the Internet have a great impact on students' writing performance.

Thus, other English lecturers are suggested to use learning materials obtained from the Internet in their teaching and learning processes, apart from, of course, materials from other sources. In this case, it is expected that the materials obtained from the Internet will be able to facilitate and promote an effective and efficient learning process. It is urgent for students to enrich themselves with every available material obtained not only from the textbooks provided but also from the Internet, which provides an abundance of useful material.

Students are expected to provide themselves with proper knowledge about using the internet so that they can discover anything they want from the internet.
