“THE INFLUENCE FACTOR HISTORY OF ALCOHOLIC MOTHER OF THE OCCURRENCE SEIZURES FEVER IN TODDLERS AT HOSPITAL SYEKH YUSUF DISTRICT GOWA YEAR 2014/2015”

ABSTRACT

Background: Febrile seizures are seizures that occur on the rise in body temperature (rectal temperature over 38oC) due to an extra-cranial process.

prevalence of febrile seizures in Indonesia in 2005-2006 reached 2-4%. Ratio of febrile seizures fever men and women is 1.1:1 to 2: 1.

Objective: To determine the influence of alcoholic mothers with history of of febrile seizures in children in hospitals Syekh Yusuf district Gowa in 2014/2015.

Methods: This study was a cross-sectional analytic study design. Samples are children aged over 6 months and under 5 years experience febrile seizures in hospitals Sheikh Yusuf Gowa district in 2014/2015 taken by using non-probability sampling with purposive sampling method. Primary data and secondary data obtained from interviews and medical records, and analyzed with Chi Square.

Results: The number of samples involved in this study were 35 children. Most of the samples are aged 0-11 months as many as 14 children (40%), male sex as much as 22 children (62.9%), febrile seizures diagnosed as much as 22 children (62.9%), with no history febrile seizures in the family of 20 children (57.1), with no history of fever during pregnancy by 31 mothers (88.6%), with no history of hypertension during pregnancy as much as 33 mothers (94.3%), with no history active smoking in pregnancy and breastfeeding were 29 mothers (82.9%), which does not have a history of passive smoking in pregnancy and breastfeeding as much as 23 mothers (65.7%) and with no history of drinking alcohol during pregnancy and breastfeeding were 28 mothers (80%).

Conclusion : In this study, the results of statistical test p value of 1.00 (p≤ 0.05) which means that there is no association between alcoholic mothers with fever incidence in children under five.
