GETTING ORIENTED
More than 1,000 new IUPUI students are expected to be on campus next week for the sixth annual Student Orientation programs and festivities. Sponsored by the Office of Student Services, the orientation on August 9-10 is designed to familiarize new enrollees with the IUPUI community, services and educational programs.
The sessions will be held in the Lecture Hall on August 9 at 6 p.m. and on August 10 at 9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Enrollees may attend any one of the sessions.
The program also will feature a variety of booths set up with people and literature to help explain student organizations and academic disciplines.
Meanwhile, out on the Cavanaugh Mall, the Union Building will set up a "food festival" a la its its "Two-Bit Day" production. For a mere 25¢ to 50¢ you can get goodies like knackwurst, corn-on-the-cob, bratwurst, candied apples.
As a finale, the festival will include a free outdoor concert by "Exquisite Taste," a combo cum vocalists who will perform from a repertoire of ballads, soft jazz, disco and top 40s music.
If it rains, all outdoor activities will be moved from the Cavanaugh Mall area to the Hideaway Cafeteria in the basement of University Library.
The public, other students, staff and faculty are invited to participate in the orientation sessions and to enjoy the food and entertainment.
(Note: This orientation program should not be confused with the Small Group Registration Counseling which is presented by the University Division.)
