Whether they're arranging a tour of the station or reading their stories on air, it's a great experience for student broadcasters. Most small town and agricultural radio stations are usually willing to work with FFA members.

Encourage students to make contacts and organize planned broadcast activities using the radio station. Spend a day at a broadcaster and meet up to read the daily news, weather or farm reports.

There will be 15 minutes for each team to present, followed by five minutes of questions. Each participant will be asked to select the best photo to use to accompany the story based on the information provided at the press conference. Participants will be asked to write a two-line caption (about 25 words) for the photos they choose in the photo editing exercise. Each broadcaster will write and perform a two-minute radio story from the press package and information gathered at the press conference.

Eligible participants in the National FFA Agricultural Communications CDE will be students who are enrolled full-time in agricultural education during the calendar year, have a planned degree, or are still in high school but may have completed all agricultural education courses offered. Members representing a state association may participate in the FFA CDE National Agricultural Message only once. All materials will be prepared by students and reviewed by the State FFA Executive Secretary and/or State FFA Advisor in each state.
